Nexuiz

Don’t know if anyone knows about it; Nexuiz is a free cross-platform online fps running on a highly modified Quake 3 Engine, the DarkPlaces engine.
Not the best looking game of all time, but if you want to get away from CSS, TF2 or MW2 for a while, i would recommend it.

Requirements:

400 MB of hard drive space
Windows 2000/XP/Vista (32-bit or 64-bit)
Mac OS X 10.4 or better (PPC or x86)
Linux Kernel 2.2 or better with glibc
High Quality/Recommended

  • A 1.5 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 chip or AMD Athlon 1500+ or better
  • 9600ati or 5700fx or better
  • 512 MB of ram or better
    Low Quality
  • 1 Ghz Pentium III or AMD Athlon
  • Geforce2 Video card
  • 512 MB of ram

The game can be downloaded https://alientrap.org/nexuiz/

Have fun!

I got a 404 with the link.

https://alientrap.org/nexuiz/information

you couldnt figure out to remove ‘]here’ from the link?

I used to play it with a couple of friends, but it got boring. When it comes to that kind of multiplayer-shooter, I prefer UT.

I vote for Q3 Arena.

Whoops…

It almost comes pre-installed with Ubuntu. Almost.

Thats ok, shit happens.

My original comment was directed towards SURPLUS_NiNjA :stuck_out_tongue:

Nexuiz is actually a lot of fun. I hear the team got acquired by another dev house and the name was licenced. They’re making a paid version of the game, and some of the team will develop the original free FPS further under a different name.

No I couldn’t because I was not that interested after Googling it, I don’t put thought into things I don’t care about.

Fair enough, but it was still pretty obvious why the link didn’t work.

For the record, I too do not care about nexuiz. Lets go play some good games NiNjA.

is it like warsow? that rules kidna.e

I just read the other day that they want to take it to the Cryengine 3 and thus also to other gaming platforms than the PC. But that game will be commercial and not open source anymore afaik :\

the team split

it’s like Quake 3 arena/team arena if’y ask me.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
