Why does everyone care? It’s a different team than is working on their other titles and it has no bearing on the release date of any of their other games.

I was mildly disappointed that it wasn’t a new IP, but other than that it really has no negative effect on me.

So many times. So many times, where people say that Valve can only make first person shooters and nothing different. And now they are doing a game which isnt FPS and everyone is dissappointed.

Really, you guys are responsible for your own hopes. It was clear, that Valve is gonna announce the dota game. Hell, how did you guys think it’d be half life related?

For gods sake, you guys should be happy, that Valve is gonna make something new. And different to their old work.

Well, I, for one, am just disappointed that one of the few developers who make games that I like has gone and announced a game that I know for sure I am not gonna be interested in b/c I hate RTS in general. And since it’s set for 2011, between Dota, P2, TF2, Steam and whatnot it is unlikely we’ll see anything else in the near future.

I’ll just keep playing League of Legends. It’s for one, a free game. It is constantly in development, adding new hero’s and content. I’ve played both DotA’s on WC3, and i must say, it will be hard for Valve to top the relative quality of a free game such as LoL.

Even considering the fact that I probably won’t enjoy playing this at all, it WILL bring in a larger valve fan-base since this has a good chance of being very successful, and maybe they’ll be able to incorporate some elements from it into a game that I would enjoy playing, like an FPS.

anyway:
1] they have a separate team for this, so it doesnt slow down development of ep3 or p2
2] it will make them money to help develop more games
3] it will earn them more fans
4] as such, if you don’t enjoy DoTA nd are pissed at valve for making this, stop QQing and hang yourself or something
