New Non-Video Game project from Valve

What do you guys think it will be. My bet is they are announcing something to do with their research into head mounted displays or it could be a movie like some people think.

This is quite interesting, my bets are on a Half-Life movie.

Wasn’t there a thing a while back about Valve releasing some sort of console or virtual console?

I don’t know how far the term “non-video game related” goes, but given that the term applies to actual video game projects only and not the supposed engines they’re built on, I’mma go ahead and place my bets on Source 2.

Or Steam for Linux as that’s been something they’ve been talking so much about recently.

My bet is that they’re just going to present some of the Software stuff.

I’m afraid you’re right :frowning:

Given the recent release of the Source Film Maker, and the following whois records, I’d say a movie was quite plausible…

The episode had no mention of this, but

Apparently this movie is going to use SFM.

€18,700,000 for a movie that people can animate for free… I want a budget like that for when I make SFM movies. :frowning:

Who needs 22 million dollars to make a movie with free software!?!?!? :fffuuu:

Software costs are negligible with these things. The software doesn’t save big chunks of cash because it’s free, but because it cuts down on man hours. A lot.

$22 million is peanuts for a CGI movie.

Nice Beard, Gabe, Nice Beard.

That’s just another sign of Gabe’s antics…

Oh man, Episode three is actually a movie.

The wailing and gnashing of teeth could be heard from all corners of the universe.

Rights and salaries make up a good chunk of movie budgets. It’s not simply the cost of physical things or software.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
