New Mod Project.

Well, I think you shouldn’t do both, since one is used for cables for usb3.

?? what do you mean? what does usb3 have to do with the holes for tubes at the back of the case? :S

Well, stupidly, you have to use the holes for tubes to get the usb 3 cables to the usb 3 ports on the back to use the usb 3 ports on the front (unless you wanna drill some holes into the thing). Don’t ask why, it’s stupid.

If you don’t get it, I’ll post a pic of my own if I have time.

Not quite sure I do mate, yeah if you can, do : )

Update:

Ok, so, imperfections sanded down, panels put togueter, masking tape…

…and first coat of primer paint. Needs a second coat but I´m out of primer so will have to wait till tomorrow so I can go get some (was going aniway to buy the actual paint).

I´m really starting to see the final picture : )

If you look at the front ports closely, they are just USB 3 ports without anything behind them. For them to work, you need to get a USB 3 cable (included iirc) and pipe it back through the coolant tube holes to the Mobo’s USB 3 ports, and plug it there.

there are cables coming from the front usbs though

In any case, it doesn´t matter as the front panel is being taken off (no use, the horns occupy that space).

Wait, so you’re gonna make a separate panel for turning the computer on and off and all the good stuff?

Mang, this is getting interesting. I’m actually interested in something in this forum.

Edit: Just spun my head about 80 degrees and saw that the power button is not on the front but on the angled surface.

Still, that power button looks tricky to reach.

I love watching a project in action. You never know how they’re going to turn the base object into something fantastic, then they blow your mind away.

Can’t wait for the finished product!

it´s right in between the horns, hidden behind a sliding cover : ) (Power & Reboot buttons).

If all goes well, tomorrow should be the most important update of the whole project, while not work wise, it´s really what gives it it´s final look, paint : )

There’s also a button under the little sliding door that lets you turn the led on and off for the front fan.

I know you’ve probably already thought about this but just in case you haven’t, make sure that you don’t mod the case in such a way that you can’t get at the innards (mobo, video card, hard drives, etc) without damaging something.

I echo what the others are saying: This is interesting, to say the least! I like it!

True!

In deed, all panels where prepped detached from the case for this very reason : )

I hope you got the inside of the glass (plexi?) panel with masking tape as well. It looks better now, IMO, the horns don’t stand out as much now that they’re the same color as everything else. Can’t wait to see the paint job.

Yes I do, learned that lesson a couple of years ago when I found out how much dusty paint acrylic paint leaves that attaches to any surface almost as if you had painted it :S

Also…

Update:

So goodies arrived : )

Ok, lets start the paintjob!

First, a second coat of primer was added, but no need for pictures, it´s just primer, plus it looks like the previous pictures…

Second, a coat of visceral red (it really does look visceral!)

Now let´s darken the whole thing with tones of blood red, purple and black…

mooore! (and while I´m at it, horns!, also, 100th picture of the project)

MORE!!

MOOOAAAAR!!!

That´s more like it : )

Close ups of the horn that´s almost finished so far…

Now, 3 hours of dry time and then more ; )

Plus it’s much easier for that stuff to get inside when there are top and back vents right near it, not to mention the front being so open :stuck_out_tongue:

Paint job looks nice so far.

The inside I´m not worried about (aside from the window) as it´s going to be painted aniway : ) and thanks!

Wow, that’s starting to look pretty sick. Makes me want to undertake a project of my own…
