… Some intense shit you got there.
Update:
I´ve given the horns one more coat of epoxy to round things up and give them their final shape before sanding down in order to get them ready for paint.
And started coating the rest of the case with the “skin” which will be painted in a mixture of black, brown, blood red and fire red tones…
…infected blisters anyone?
Now to let it dry till tomorrow.
Them demon-zits be nasty.
feel like poping?
Looks really cool by the way. Is there still going to be sufficient airflow through the vents when they’ve got that epoxy skin on them?
I´ll be leaving all vents untouched, just painted so should be ok : ), also, for the skin I´m using a hard type of filler foam, it´s not as hard as epoxy, by far, but its also not solid, giving that fleshy feel when touched, I am now debating wether I should use epoxy for frail reasons, problem is, if I epoxy the whole case, it´s gonna weight quite a bit, and, its also quite expensive to do so, the horns took 50 dollars of epoxy alone.
the curves look much better tho
in deed, that´s why I decided to give it a third coat, that rough cut made it look like there was a chunk of horn missing and it was driving me crazy lol
So I went down to the workshop and all is dry and looks awesome, however, the foam, while giving a great skin effect not only to the eye but to the touch is just to frail, I can see chunks of it coming off as soon as I´ll be handling the case so I´ll be proceding to doing the rest of the case in the same manner and covering it all on top with a very thin layer of epoxy, so all the shapes are kept but it´s becomes much less frail
Oh god. It truly does look nasty. Me gusta.
Update:
I´ve aplied first coat of “skin” to the rest of the areas that where meant to have it. Once dry (in a couple of hours) I will cover all “skin” areas with a very very thin layer of epoxy, so it still keeps the detail but becomes much stronger (it is quite frail on it´s own).
Second Update of the Day:
Second and final coat of “skin” (for this one, epoxy as opposed to foam) done. Now it has to dry, tomorrow I will sand any imperfections of over the edge material and prep it for paint (primer).
hope it doesn’t affect the cooling.
Shouldn´t do, all vents are untouched except the side one a bit as you can see, it´s also why I left the back untouched, if the case itself acts like a heatsink with no output under the “stuff” all the heat should, in theory, be expelled through the back.
Instead of covering it all up, it would have been cool to buy some cheap plastic (or metal) tubes and various machinery parts and stick it there to make it look more… crazy.
that seems like a pretty awesome idea for a steampunk themed mod, not sure how would that look like a demon though? :S
hahahahaha good times!
Yeah. Exactly that. Or a tetsuo-movie like one with horns.
I stand corrected sirs
Need an opinion on an idea…
Since I ordered a seperate reservoir (the EK kit already comes with one), and the case has tube outputs on the back, I was thinking of making a tail with the tubes that go to the a small external reservoir (the extra one) and shape such reservoir as a pointy tail, what do you think?
