Man… pretty speechless about Ballsopt’s concept art still. Dont think I can find a good adjective to use, other than sick, beast, awesome, off the chain!

I cant stop looking at the concept art. A lot of that is stuff I only dreamed of being in a mod, lets just hope it gets that far

Seriously, Ballsopt is an incredible concept artist. It’s this sort of work that I would imagine doesn’t take exceptionally long, perhaps a week’s work, but it captures the scene and atmosphere extremely well. Simple but so effective. This is no comment on anyone’s mapping skills, but if you can make the final versions look anything like the concept art you’ll be fine.
His work is good, but the combine ones don’t quite seem to fit in with the combine’s style. Namely the weapons, and “death.”
Admitted that I didn’t have that much faith in this…until I followed the Moddb link and saw the concept work. Damn.
I gotta say Ballsopt’s ideas of homeworld Combine species were better than how I would imagine them.

Yes, the Combine have a very distinctive style and it makes me sad when people don’t get it right. :\

Also, @Operation Lambda devs, it probably doesn’t matter all that much, but I the name Xeros doesn’t really seem right for the Combine Overworld. In my opinion it’s too similar to Xen, and so sounds like it’s more to do with the Vorts and such rather than the Combine. I’d suggest “Aleph”, which Breen refers to in the beta sound files as the possible name for the Combine Overworld. But it’s your call, of course.

The Combine Homeworld will not be called Xeros, as far as I’m aware, we are removing it.
