New Halo ODST trailer

Why?
I’m 14 (close enough), I play Halo, and I think District 9 was great!

Hell, Asteroids just got the go-ahead to become a movie, along with Candyland and Battleship.

And there is going to be a Wizard of Oz RPG on the DS.

We’re fucked.

Oh god, gaming is screwed.

…Asteroids?
Okay, wtf? The Bioshock, Gears of War, and Halo movies are on hold, but an ASTEROIDS movie gets picked up?

Yeah. Real cinematic, and a wonderful universe. This is a way better idea than a Metal Gear movie.

I have this strange feeling that it will not stay true to the originals plot. Its tragic how such epic story telling is trashed by movie makers trying to make a quick buck.

Listen to the music in the deleted scene at the end.

I lold.

Asteroids could actually be fucking awesome if it had to be.

Imagine; 2 and a half hours of a lone space moron getting into awesome asteroid-dodging dogfights with alien ships on a quest for some space rubies or something.

The entire thing would be done in stop-motion blue screening like in Star Wars.

This is the extended trailer.

:jizz:

Hey, that gets me back to the original point of this thread. I found this comment posted by some random person: “this is actually the most incredible video game advert i have ever seen. if i didnt know it was for odst, i would have thought it was a movie or something.”

To me this is saying “This is the most incredible video game advertisement because it does not look like it is advertising a video game”

So we return to the question “Why?” Why make a trailer for a movie for a video game? Why not at least make it a pre-rendered cutscene, as worthless as those are in trailers?

turns out that my fanboy self is disappointed with the odst plot.

What? A Halo game has mediocre plot? Unheard of!

That’s the thing. Halo has always clouded itself with cliches ON PURPOSE, but there was always an underlying depth to every little thing. (There’s a REASON in cannon why the forrunner levels in Halo ce were so repetative arcitectually)

The haters see the fake shell and scoff. They go back to the TRUE cliche’d plotlines coughhalflifecough, while the patient ones dig through and find something no one’s ever done before.

While he concepts in the Halo storylines are done to death, the execution allows one to take things seriously. Sure, you’re playing a a genettically enhanced supersoldier, but would one ever guess that they were being discriminated against by other divisions of the navy? Fuck, NO one goes that in depth.

lol.

But seriously, the ODST story ain’t that bad compared to the full games people are throwing their money at. At least there IS one to begin with.

Artistic license is never, NEVER, an excuse for poor gameplay. I don’t care if Bungie has written a book on all the ways that level’s repetitiveness, and every other flaw, was canon, that is just an excuse for bad game design. To paraphrase Yahtzee, if you tell a joke, and no one laughs, then explain it, people may say “That is pretty clever”, but they still won’t laugh.

I can imagine it now:
“Forerunner Suggestion Box: Hey, I’m trying to look for a book about dealing with flood leaks, and I must say this is the blandest, most unimaginative, and most poorly laid out library in the entire universe! Everything looks the same! It’s hard to tell where the fuck I’m going! We’re so advanced in technology, but we still suck at interior design?! When we light the rings, let’s hope whoever designed this shithole are the first to go!”

Jesus fuck, you guys are pussies about repetitive design. It was three fucking levels, and it was eight years ago.

And we’re still tortured by the memory of each level.
When I first played Library, a little part of me died inside.

I found nothing wrong with it. The music track was pretty fun.

It wasn’t the level design.

It was wave upon wave of Flood.

:fffuuu:

I was actually defenting it. Oddly enough.

The thing is, for a majority of that level, you were walking around in an oversized microchip. I’m waiting for some heads to explode from that.

I don’t care if you were walking magical candy land, the level design sucked. If you wish to make the cool fact that you are in a giant computer chip known, make the area interesting not dull and gray. And don’t say it fits into cannon because Halo CE created the freakin’ cannon.
