This is definitely one of the better ones I’ve seen. Well acted, looks authentic, and done on a tiny budget!
I’m so glad they understood that the strong silent type doesn’t have to be literally fucking mute
And yet people still complain
writing was very well done imo. 10/10.
Yeah, very, very nice. A few of the earlier lines seemed a teeny bit forced, but it might just be me. I’m glad Freeman actually made sounds and had a voice! It wasn’t bad at all, I liked it.
Oh, I wish I had this in higher quality. I have a bit of an affinity for green eyes and I find this awesome.
Very nicely done. The HEV suit and the headcrabs looked really good.
Also, come people, he HAS to speak sometimes. How do you think he went through MIT? Gesturing? And I don’t think he really is mute. Just a man of few words.
Also, Jethrosoup, what fandoms are the 1st and 2nd? Portal and CoD?
I enjoyed it would like to have seen more but pretty cool! Saying his name I think was completely fine!
He could have said more and I’d be okay with it. For a film it fits, it’s a given that characters should talk to not just “be there.” FPS games are nice without protagonist voices, but they made this work.
Awesome! I really liked how they stayed so close to the original costume wise. The Headcrabs were made great and where on earth to i get that badass HEV ?
Probably one of the better HL fanfilms I’ve seen.
nippicking time: thats a H.E.V. mk V, the events in Black Mesa require a H.E.V. mk IV.
.
Very good fILM, reminded me somehow of that Short with the citizens trying to escape from City 17
That was awesome!!
Not a fan of the credits song though, doesn’t even fit the mood.
Ok that is the only fan film based on HL-1 I’d consider any good.
I thought the best part about it WAS the guy playing Gordon. I always have a problem with HEV suits though and the outfits in general as I’ve never seen one that looks more than a cosplay outfit, but it’s a fan film.
Also pretty impressed with this one The only critique would be the setting. Since they are all Black Mesa staff, why would they be in a regular house in a regular neighbourhood? That felt a bit off, imho.
Could have been the topside dorms?
^ Yeah, that’s what I thought.
Could have been, but then I would expect a different type of environment, since Black Mesa is in the New Mexico desert.
If you take a good look at the style of the house (the woodwork, old paint layers) it just doesn’t seem how a huge trillion-dollar company like Black Mesa would house their staff. Also doesn’t really compare to the architecture you find on the surface level in HL1.
But of course I’m nitpicking here. Well done, nonetheless.
Needs moar ninja combine
Zombie walks past
Barney: What the fucking hell.
Best part.
But seriously, it’s amazingly good.
