Net neutrality - at risk?

Wireless carriers openly considering charging per service

That slide above is no joke – it comes from a marketing webinar put on by two companies that count Verizon, AT&T and Vodafone as clients, and it describes a system that identifies customer internet activity and charges a different rate for using Facebook than watching YouTube, while allowing access to Vodafone services for free.

viacom put a machine betwixt me cheeks and now my bank acct is billed according to what passes thru. Please write to your senator to protect butt neutrality.

lol HPN, you never get old.

Seriously HPN, you aren’t fooling anybody ('cept maybe old dirty Bastard, but he hasn’t been able to tell a fork from a spork since Clinton was President

wait This guy is Good ol’ Nutsack?

Would anyone else use the phrase “butt neutrality”?

point taken.

On topic - I’m not surprised. This is what happens when you let oligopolies control all media in America. I’ve seen this coming for ages. I wrote my senator about the issue twice. It really doesn’t matter if the FCC doesn’t care and is being slipped money under the table.

They don’t and they are.

Here’s a little tidbit that shows the direness of the situation:

They can’t even protect your right to WATCH Netflix or download legal torrents. What makes you think they’ll be able to stop them from charging for them?

Wow, if they adopt this strategy on hard lines I’m gonna have a laugh when my neighbors receive a huge-ass internet bill for unknown reasons.

Win.

On topic. Heard of this already and it is very bad. I’ll have to kiss my torrents goodbye. Oh, and ISPs will practically be able to choose what makes it on the internet and what doesn’t.

facebook internet plan hack: put an html frame with address bar on your wall or something

But, if we disallow the ISPs from throttling certain types of traffic, that means government censorship of the Internet! PANIC!!!

Because the government is always bad, right?

Oh dear lord. How much will my F5 habit cost me in the end?

Cents and Euro’s, thank fuck for the pound.
