Need faster Processor

Being using my currently pc for 7 month and it is start to feel very slow for multitasker for me. (Especially when I have browser on with game running at same time)

Any good i5 that can let me multitask without too much slowing down?

I am not too good with these PC stuff. :\

3570K is a fairly good one

Yeah, but it offers little performance over 2400. Unless you OC it, which I doubt Fong will.

Fong, check if you’re not using up all your RAM when you notice slowdowns. Chrome can hog loads of memory. If that’s the case, go FF or get more RAM. If not, then harden up or get 3770K.

Well, he did ask for an i5, and the 3570 is basically the top of the line, right now.

Adding additional memory won’t work. He’s running a 32-bit system.

So what does really helps my PC run smoother? Ram or Processor?

Oh shit, didn’t see that.

  1. Open game
  2. Open Chrome
  3. Do stuff until you notice lag
  4. open task manager
  5. check if cpu is 100% or RAM is 100%

[EDIT] Also, get a 64bit OS. You’re wasting RAM.

Yeah, my friend already told me to get Window 7 pro for 64bit OS

First and foremost, what do you want to do with your system, because I’ve been multitasking for years with a similar system (the processor was 2.0 ghz, dual core) and it ran just about everything including Crysis 2 (barely) fairly well (I upgraded about 2 months ago… finally).

Second, is it a Laptop or Desktop? Because with a laptop, you’re better off buying a new one, those mother boards are made for specific parts, and they’re not as flexible as desktops in terms of parts (not saying it can’t be done, but it’s a major pain in the ass).

What in the hell is your Mother Board… before you upgrade ANYTHING on your system, get the name, google it, and check the maximum RAM, CPU speed, etc. it can handle. If you don’t, at best, you’ll prevent it from starting up, at worst, you’ll cause your system go into a nuclear melt-down and then spend about another $1000 USD (convert currency here) on new parts… I’m not kidding.

In your position, I would check your mobo (mother board) first, then go from there. If you don’t want your system so bogged down, try running a virus scan, spy/mal-ware removal, and anything to cleanse your system. If worst comes to worst, just do a wipe and reinstall windows 7.

  1. Browser and gaming
  2. Desktop obviously
  3. GIGABYTE SOCKET 1155 Z68AP-D3 and my entire PC only cost 546.11 USD

I am thinking about changing window to run in 64bits, save me some money.

Up to 32 GB of memory is what you can support.

I would upgrade to 64 bit like people said. And if I may suggest a few things:

  1. double your RAM ($32 or so USD depending on where you live, I live near the northern richer sections of Virginia in the US)

  2. If you aren’t already, get a good GPU (graphics/vid card) – although I assume you don’t have to considering you have a higher-end rig. I don’t know the prices in Malaysia, but if it was only $500-600 or so, it sounds too cheap to have a good vid card, but that may be because of my geographical point on the map… My new system using a 3.4 GHZ (can overclock to 4.2 GHZ) Intel i5-3570K one of the latest Gigabyte MOBO’s (dunno what it is atm, I don’t feel like pulling apart my case to look – 8 gig ram) cost me around $750 (that’s with out bundle deals and discounts instituted) or so where I am. I still need to upgrade my GPU to something more recent and add in a second one for crossfire/SLI. That’ll add another $600 on its net worth… that’s excluding the speakers I need to get for my surround sound…

  3. DO NOT save any of your data from your last machine when you install your 64 bit system. It’s to prevent any infections you may or may not have on your last data set to carry over from the last iteration of your machine. If you REALLY need to save your data, burn it to a disc, or transfer it to an external Hard Drive, and run a virus scan on it on another (junk) machine if you can, then just plant it back in once everything’s clean.

Alright, so Ram and 1 tb harddisk for me then

^ You only need about 8-16 gig of ram… don’t go anymore than that. 32 gig isn’t worth it unless you’re running a virtual computer or computers.

To make it easier on you, just pull your saved games, docs, and the obvious bullshit. Avoid your browser cashes, those are the most likely places where the viruses/spyware, etc. will hide. Just about all the advice I can give on that.

alright, thanks for your advice.

I thought that 4 gigs of RAM was more than enough for most things.

tell me what brand of Harddisk should I get?

Need to gaming and stream it at same time.

^ For the brand of HDD, I can’t say. Whatever is reliable, I would suggest getting something that has a USB cable or is a seta drive. If you have cash to burn, spend a few hundred on a SSD for your main boot disc.

Also, I forgot to mention you NEED DDR3 memory for your Mobo, it won’t recognize anything else. And when you go get memory, don’t worry about brand. They’re all the same, prices are just different, go with the cheapest one.

If you want to run things on max settings and still have some physical memory to spare, you want at least 8 gigs.

Western Digital offers some nice harddisks.

DDR3 memory, what’s that??

Jeez man, you’re really green at the computers.
