My mate is going to the us :(

Would love to hear some opinions of folks that have visited our good 'ol u.s. of a. and have some comments to add for phat.

Your hamburgers are awesome.

How sure know how to make a good theme park, and how to make a good buffet.

As I said, most people here greet the white supremacists with sheer distain, and there aren’t that many here. There is still some racial tension in some places, but its typically in the deep south areas. Most of the people of Texas are very modern, especially around the major cities. Rednecks aren’t around anymore in the classical sense of the term. The closest approximation to modern rednecks in Texas I can give you is Ellis from L4D2 minus the thicker accent in favor of a milder one, and a little bit better grammar. They are genuinely fun loving, hard working guys. They are usually found around the more country areas, but are separate and distinct from farmers. They are mostly younger individuals that cling to the “redneck” stereotype because it’s fun to them. This specific brand of redneck stereotype does not by definition include racism, though that doesn’t mean that you won’t find any, it just means that most are not. And no, no one is inbreeding like the classic white trash stereotype.

Maybe in the 30’s. :stuck_out_tongue:

If you ever come to Colorado then we will treat you like kings. Seriously we love the tourism and are so polite to those who come into our state. If you want to come to a beautiful state with multiple climate areas (excluding any beaches,) nice people without any type of accent (seriously we have no accent, we talk normal. No southern hick accent, snobby SoCal attitude, no Knew Yark accent.) then come to Colorful Colorado.

I love Colorado, its so breath takingly beautiful. I’d live there if I could honestly. Either there or closer to Yellowstone, but I prefer more civilization, so Colorado it is.

Texas = immediate diabeetus. :freeman:

Tbh, I would love to spend some time traveling the US, just to see the cultural differences, but the problem is that I don’t really know where to go.

NYC is something I just want to go to, look around for a minute and then go “well, I’ve been to NYC” onwards to something more interesting. Same goes for a lot of those typical cities.

This is impossible to do. There’s just so much to do in NYC…you can spend at least two days walking around to all the stores and sights.

ORLANDO FTW :stuck_out_tongue:

What, why? Why would this be a troll? Wait… what is a troll?

OK.

Yes and your friend will die.

Yes they are all fat and stupid and they turn into werewolfs at midnight.

Yes.

Yes.

They’ll try but they’ll get eaten by the american werewolfs.

Again, yes, because of the werewolfs.

OK.

Yes.

Interresting.

If you have a chance to visit anywhere in America, and you want to see more of America’s natural beauty, I definitely reccommend visiting Yellowstone National Park. There are different elements of Yellowstone that you can see in different parts of the world, but there is something so unique about Yellowstone.

Maybe it is the huge Volcano that could blow us all to smitherines?

Had lunch with an American colleague today… He had pizza with fries and ketchup >_> WHY?

Why not? If it’s delicious then eat it. Yum yum :stuck_out_tongue:

I have a friend that once mixed gelatin (which was the desert) with beans. Disgusting.

It was in a refectory. Everyone around went away. It was funny.

Removing the tidbits that I could troll on or just make some bad statement on… I live in the Eastern United States. Virginia to be specific just outside of DC and I’ve been to redneck states before, NC & Tennessee. I’ve never been to Texas myself, but that’ll change late in the summer season though.

Not all of us are bad people, some are sophisticated, and think differently than other people do.

The case with me; I think most people are stupid (Not just my fellow Americans, just about every one). Though I do gauge people for their actions, not word, or vocabulary.

The reason I think as such is because I have a very high IQ, and I can think on my feet very quickly.

If stupid you mean socially inept: No.
If stupid you mean don’t think: Some not all.
If stupid you mean Neo Nazism AND KKK & related moronic organizations: Minority.

It all depends on the view of the person. Don’t take the Media’s points at face value. Take a look at the people who live in the United States, you’ll see a variety of people & cultures in the states.

And no, we’re not all fat. It’s a dumbass stereo type that doesn’t do the people who live here good. Some are, some aren’t. That being said, just do some research. I’m quite attractive in my own right, as I’m sure every one is.

One of the masonic lodges that sponsors my DeMolay Chapter has a Brit as their worshipful master, the guy’s a dick, as is the next one who’s coming in (who I don’t think is a Brit, but I could be wrong). But I don’t take his personality and stance as what all Brits’ are. I know a few Aussies, Canadians, and Brits myself and they’re awesome people.

That being said; don’t take what the media or what other people say about this nation at face value. Do your own research and look into it yourself then compare it to what people say about it. They are drastically different.

There’s plenty of hot chicks in the Southern states, you jus’ have to know where to look.

My girlfriend/Would-be wife lives in TX now (which sucks) she use to live here. I managed to keep the relationship between her and I alive through hard effort. I won’t go any further than that, but yes there’s A LOT of hot chicks, you just have to look.

Those who like to gamble. Not ALL of us like to. I don’t mind playing Poker every now and then when I have some money to burn.

No. The Illegal Immigrant problem is just an over bloated figure. I doubt there’s as many people as the USMedia says there is crossing. With out getting checked, etc.

When in doubt use google. But in all seriousness, likely no more than any other metropolis, just avoid the bad areas, and if you HAVE to go there, keep your guard up.

It’s stabilizing for now, it’s a matter of time.

& *Crisis, Crysis is a game. :stuck_out_tongue:

AND on a side note: Some of the major game making companies are based in the US; Valve & Blizzard, two of a few.

So guise when is China invading America?

I’ll post a detailed report of my tour of the US once I get back in July

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
