One of my best friends is going to the us - to be precise texas, some place near houston called san antonio. So i am feeling down because of this - in fact it almost made me cry :’(
The only reason for this is his wish to graduate- to complete the last year of high school -we have 8 grades in elementary school and 4 in “middle” school he completed the first 3 and the 4th one he wants to do in america.And he is 17 yo.

I as a non-american person have no idea what’s it like there i’m actually thinking of going there myself.Is it really chuck-norrisy or what

You’re going to find a lot more “Cowboy” like people in Texas, but San Antonio and Houston are both very large cities and it’s not like it’s a bunch of Ranches and wide open ranges. I have only been in Houston for all of 3 hours while waiting for a plane.

Texas is alot different than New York, but this American stereotype portrayed by w/e European TV ur watching is just a stupid stereotype, nothing more. While there are people who fit that stereotype, you’ll find that most of America is quite different from the typical violence loving, lard eating pigs that foreign media portray us as. Also to answer the big #3, Houston has some very, very hot women :wink:

No, Maybe you get this image from the uprising of the Tea Party. I don’t know what other nations’ news outlets say about the Tea Party but to me they are a bunch of people who don’t trust the current president (President Obama) to follow the constitution and maintain the freedom of US citizens. The Tea Party (going to generalize here because that’s what the media does) is paranoid. They fear socialism, they fear government regulation of a free market, they fear a government not influenced by christian morals. As many as 30% of these Tea Party supporters don’t even believe Obama is an American. They try indoctrinating ideas into people that Obama will try to destroy America as it currently stands to create a nation that government has 100% control over.

All of this, is Bullshit.

Unfortunately, the Tea Party is gaining ground.

San Antonio near Houston? Well near is a little relative… If you compared it to other major cities in Texas, yes it is near Huston, but they are still over 3 hours apart if you don’t hit traffic, and trust me you WILL hit traffic in the Houston area. I Live in Texas, more precisely, the DFW area. The thing about Texas is that you can drive for 7 hours straight and still be in Texas. That’s how far I have to drive when I come home for break from my university.

Bottom line, most of these questions were based of rediculous stereotypes. If you are getting all your information from the tv screen, then you need to get out more.
