My mate is going to the us :(

As a resident of San Antonio, I feel I have to speak up for my town (and I will gladly welcome your friend when he arrives!).

Are americans bad people (america bombed us in 1999)?
[COLOR=‘DeepSkyBlue’]There are bad and good people everywhere. That said, San Antonio has been rated one of the friendliest cities in the US. It somewhat relates the old ideals of Southern hospitality.

Are all americans fat and stupid like they say?
[COLOR=‘DeepSkyBlue’]No. That’s not to say that there aren’t some fat people and some ignorant and stupid people but we’re by no means all like that.

How bangable are chicks in houston?
[COLOR=‘DeepSkyBlue’]Houston, not really sure, I don’t go there often. San Antonio, you’ll find plenty of hot girls. Since SA has a large military base, we have a lot of different cultures living in our town so any type of girl you like you can find. No worries there.

Do all americans go to las vegas and waste money?
[COLOR=‘DeepSkyBlue’]Only those with a gambling addiction. :stuck_out_tongue: So no, not really.

Are spanish people going to conquer america any time soon?
[COLOR=‘DeepSkyBlue’]Lol no. There are, however, a lot of hispanics in Texas simply because of the proximity to Mexico, and your friend will hear/see Spanish everywhere. But up north, people don’t even know what tacos are

You know in general what’s it like in houston are there many murders rapes etc?
[COLOR=‘DeepSkyBlue’]I don’t know what to tell you, really…there is crime in SA and Houston but it’s not like it’s any worse than anywhere else. Some places in town are of course worse than others and its obvious, but in general there’s not a whole lot to worry about. Don’t ever let your friend go to Nuevo Laredo though. That place is a war zone.

Is america going out of economic crysis?
[COLOR=‘DeepSkyBlue’]It’s not as bad as it was. And as someone mentioned earlier, Texas was one of the states affected the least by the recession, and San Antonio was one of the least affected cities in Texas.

Some things you should know about Texas:
-The weather is always at extremes in Texas. It’s either pouring rain or scorching sun. It is hot all the time, and winters are usually mild, but sometimes can get to the 20’s (fahrenheit, -6 celsius). Spring and fall are almost non-existant.
-Local music: San Antonio doesn’t have much of a music scene, apart from some metal and indie bands. About an hour away in Austin there’s a very large indie rock scene. Big bands come through Houston, Austin and San Antonio so there’s popular music here too. Wolfmother came to Austin in October (a sick show) and 311 to Houston in March I think.
-San Antonio is not very cowboyish. There’s not much of an accent for San Antonio, but Houstoners have a very southern accent.
-The Spurs are a really big deal in San Antonio.
-Food. There are all kinds of food and a lot of it.
-Huge trucks everywhere.
-Construction. It’s almost a swear word here now, but if your friend isn’t driving yet then it won’t matter so much.

Anything else you want to know I’d be happy to tell you.

American Southern hospitality? You mean the welcoming comity of torches and pitchforks for anyone that isn’t white?

americans are really freaked out by an english accent coming out of a nonwhite person its hilarious

I’ll bite for the bombing one. I had a hard time thinking of where the hell in Europe America had bombed any time recently. I presume then that you live somewhere in what is known as the former Yugoslavia (that name must be a kick in the teeth). And it was a NATO campaign (so not just the US) because of what Milošević was doing to the Albanians. Probably one of the most justifiable attacks in the last 20 years.

America hates English people because we do not like being called fat on Xbox Live.

We’re also pissed because in 2002, BBC-America stopped showing Eastenders.

You’re not missing much. A and B have fallen in love, broken up, had a kid and got back together only to find out they’re related. C and D had an argument and C killed D. E thinks everyone hates them and has left the Square (only to return a few months later as if nothing as happened when the writers are stuck for ideas). Oh, and Phil and Grant Mitchell have beaten someone up. Again. And Dot Cotton STILL isn’t dead.

I C WUT U DID THAR!

Why didn’t they bomb miloshevics house only ? Why did the bomb the chinesee embassy? Why did they bomb the hospital ? Why did I have to hide in the atomic shelter ? Why did i have to bribe bosinian customs 100 marks in order to escape from my country ?
ETC
Imagine you get bombed because of the american attack on iraq.
And yes i lived in Yugoslavia - it got split into SCG,Bosnia,Croatia,Macedonia,Slovenia and then SCG again got split into Montenegro and Serbia , and now Serbia will get split into Kosovo and Serbia
real mess thats why we leave it and go to america and
anywhere not here :retard:

Orpheon big THANK YOU your post was most helpful thanks i will contact you if i have any more questions about san antionio

Quite frankly no idea. No one was going to use a nuke in the middle of Europe.

Yeah, been there, done that.

People like this make me feel sad.

It’s really disheartening to know how twisted the views of others are in terms of America. :frowning:

america has prob fucked up the world in more ways than people give ya credit for tbh

yeah… we are pretty fucking inept at world needs and things eh?

https://www.krysstal.com/democracy_whyusa01.html god bless

BEEG AMERICAN TEE TEES CAHZIN!

LOL!

The funny thing is, no matter how many stereotypes they try to apply to America, the truth is they’re in the same boat we are. They’re force fed that Top 40 spoken-word-rap-“r&b”-pop bullshit, watch crappy TV dramas, and they have fat and stupid people in Britain, too.

Not chastising here, don’t worry; we stereotype everyone over here in America.

What the… :jizz:
lol

Is that really what you believe the way things are now or are you just trying to be insulting? I’m not from the South, I am from the Northern half of the US that went South seeking jobs after the damage 9/11 did to the aircraft manufacturing industry. I have to say that things aren’t like they were before or during the civil rights movement. Things have changed, and most people that I have met have gotten over old prejudices a long time ago. Most people I’ve met greet white supremacists with distain. I’d be lying if I said that in some of the Deep South areas there isn’t any racial tension. Its still there. But for the most part things are very different then what you would expect and things will improve as more generations of people come to replace the previous ones.

Someone needs to create a U.S.A. bashing thread in the debate area so that we can keep this thread open and clean.

I’ve never been to the US (though I might be heading to Tampa next year for my work), so my image of Southern US = rednecks, inbreed and the KKK (thank you television).
