As a resident of San Antonio, I feel I have to speak up for my town (and I will gladly welcome your friend when he arrives!).
Are americans bad people (america bombed us in 1999)?
[COLOR=‘DeepSkyBlue’]There are bad and good people everywhere. That said, San Antonio has been rated one of the friendliest cities in the US. It somewhat relates the old ideals of Southern hospitality.
Are all americans fat and stupid like they say?
[COLOR=‘DeepSkyBlue’]No. That’s not to say that there aren’t some fat people and some ignorant and stupid people but we’re by no means all like that.
How bangable are chicks in houston?
[COLOR=‘DeepSkyBlue’]Houston, not really sure, I don’t go there often. San Antonio, you’ll find plenty of hot girls. Since SA has a large military base, we have a lot of different cultures living in our town so any type of girl you like you can find. No worries there.
Do all americans go to las vegas and waste money?
[COLOR=‘DeepSkyBlue’]Only those with a gambling addiction. So no, not really.
Are spanish people going to conquer america any time soon?
[COLOR=‘DeepSkyBlue’]Lol no. There are, however, a lot of hispanics in Texas simply because of the proximity to Mexico, and your friend will hear/see Spanish everywhere. But up north, people don’t even know what tacos are
You know in general what’s it like in houston are there many murders rapes etc?
[COLOR=‘DeepSkyBlue’]I don’t know what to tell you, really…there is crime in SA and Houston but it’s not like it’s any worse than anywhere else. Some places in town are of course worse than others and its obvious, but in general there’s not a whole lot to worry about. Don’t ever let your friend go to Nuevo Laredo though. That place is a war zone.
Is america going out of economic crysis?
[COLOR=‘DeepSkyBlue’]It’s not as bad as it was. And as someone mentioned earlier, Texas was one of the states affected the least by the recession, and San Antonio was one of the least affected cities in Texas.
Some things you should know about Texas:
-The weather is always at extremes in Texas. It’s either pouring rain or scorching sun. It is hot all the time, and winters are usually mild, but sometimes can get to the 20’s (fahrenheit, -6 celsius). Spring and fall are almost non-existant.
-Local music: San Antonio doesn’t have much of a music scene, apart from some metal and indie bands. About an hour away in Austin there’s a very large indie rock scene. Big bands come through Houston, Austin and San Antonio so there’s popular music here too. Wolfmother came to Austin in October (a sick show) and 311 to Houston in March I think.
-San Antonio is not very cowboyish. There’s not much of an accent for San Antonio, but Houstoners have a very southern accent.
-The Spurs are a really big deal in San Antonio.
-Food. There are all kinds of food and a lot of it.
-Huge trucks everywhere.
-Construction. It’s almost a swear word here now, but if your friend isn’t driving yet then it won’t matter so much.
Anything else you want to know I’d be happy to tell you.
