My computer troubles

I have put together my new computer(tell me if other information is required). After turning it on the fans run and it seems to be booting up but it won’t put any information on the screen I have plugged into it nor will the USB ports work. I need help trying to figure out why these won’t work.

Is the graphics card getting sufficient power? are the usb ports wired in properly, or are you talking about the ports on the mobo itself

How can I tell if the graphics card is getting power and the USB on the mobo

Specs plz

Many new graphics cards require additional power, check on the card if there are and spots to plug the power cords into it.

Make sure your monitor is plugged into the video card, instead of the motherboard video-out.

PC not booting, this could be a number of things, mobo could be incompatible with your CPU/RAM or it could be an insufficent power supply like others have said.

By the way, you need to post info on your computer in the first post.

Mobo m4a79xtd evo
500wat power
zotac geforce 9600gso
2sticks of 2gb ram ddr3
500gb hard drive
phenom 2 black edition 3.1 ghz proccesor
1 disc drive

everything seems to work but it doesn’t beep when I turn it on.

Looks like everything should be compatible, I can’t be sure because I don’t have the exact CPU model.

If your monitor isn’t getting anything, it might be plugged into the printer port, which is usually identical to the monitor port.

It’s happened to me before.

The fan on the CPU turns on. My freind suggested the mobo may be freud. How can I tell if it is.

To ram- I have plugged the monitor cable into the graphics card port

They are not even similar in size, what I think happened is you plugged it into the onboard graphics port instead of your dedicated GPU, and the panel on the back indicated it’s a serial port because that’s where it usually is.

how did this get here im not good wit computer

I have been plugging it into the graphics card. Where should I attach it on to get the computers info on the screen

What’s the specific type of Memory? If the memory uses an incompatible frequency or is buffered/unbuffered when the mobo is the opposite could cause some problems.

Edit: Oh! Make sure the memory sticks are pushed in all the way. I had the problem the other day when I was building my computer, even though they were snapped into the locks they weren’t all the way into their slots and the LED that turns on for incompatible memory would keep lighting up.

Make sure your graphics card is seated properly, sometimes when I move my PC to a LAN it will wiggle out just enough and not display.

Some thoughts:
If you have a dual head video card, especially if you have two displays hooked up, the card may default to the ‘wrong’ output. Try switching outputs if you can, and maybe you will get picture.
Additionally, if the card is plugged into the motherboard, but does not have the additional power connector plugged in, in my [limited] experience, the computer should still boot, though it will not perform nearly as well as it should. This may have changed, as my experiences with this are from the…GeForce 4 Ti or 5900 or 6800 series…I forget the specifics…

I would suggest TAKING OUT and reinstalling the memory, video card, and verifying all other connections. If the motherboard has an extra P4 power header, ensure that is also connected. Check the power supply voltage is set to the correct voltage. Actually, now that I think of it, if possible, test the power supply in a different computer.

Hope this helps…good luck…

does it wet itself?

I fixed it. The ram was not pushed in enough.
