My brother's new 360 Slim is freezing

My brother got a new 360 slim for Christmas today. I transferred over his stuff via USB and he played the shit out of it for a good hour or so. Then my cousins came over and we continued to play the shot out of it. After a few hours, though, it started to freeze. Now it won’t play for more than twenty minutes.

Is it possible the son of a bitch overheated on the first day? We have it placed horizontally on a glass shelf, with plenty of space above and next to it. I did place my hand on it and felt it was borderline hot, but I guess that means the fan is working and blowing the hot air out.

Any ideas? Laser error? Just a faulty model? Will another model actually work?

No red ring of death? Why don’t you get it back to where he brought it and have it fix up?

it’s the first day, obviously defective, unless your room temperature is above 80 celsius.

send it in for repairs, should be free unless it’s a stolen xbox, in which case you have to deal with your seller personally

And I assume you have great experience with this.

Yes I sold one that broke but the buyer was a pussy so he didn’t do anything.

I got mine today too. It didn’t work immediately, but I unplugged it a few times and then it did. It froze a while later during some mass effect. I just plugged it into a different wall, and now it works fine.

The thing with xboxes is that they are guaranteed to fuck up if they aren’t getting enough electricity. Make sure the power brick isn’t loose and that it’s in tidy area, and make sure it’s not plugged in to an extension cord or power strip. Use an outlet.

I bought a 250Gb a couple months ago and it works perfectly. I read that these ones weren’t supposed to break that easy, so you probably have a defective one. Or else something got corrupted when you copied a bunch of stuff over, which is possible I suppose.

haha, looks like xboxes are stupid crap thingies

Your brother should get a good PC, instead of Xbox360 or PS3, IMO

Why not have both? Only nerds want to play 100 percent of their video games alone in front of a desk

That is why I don’t own a 360 anymore, they are just the crysler sebring of gaming. Unreliable would be an understatement. If you want a “good” console, get a PS3, but if you really like the 360 controller better, buy this magical device called the cross battle adapter by XCM & it works. The sweet feeling of a 360 controller on a PS3 playing Uncharted & Ico is amazing, may include grief & feeling a bit sly, but its epic nonetheless.

Or you could just get a gaming rig like the others mentioned, I just prefer the game pad over the mouse & keyboard for some reason.

I play all my PC racing games with a PS3 controller and I play GTA (PC version) with an xbox 360 controller. Problem?

Got a new one.

This one momentarily switched to a checkerboard pattern which went away upon restart.

Maybe the way the 360 is placed on my shelf is problematic?

Mine will immediately cease operation if I so much as nudge it.

The moral of this thread is: Don’t buy Xbox 360s, because they’re shit.

Xbox 360: The cubicle worker that dropped out of high school, got a GED 6 years after, went to college and dropped out his freshman year. Also is very clumsy.

PS3: That guy who works at Walmart with the lip ring, 6 tattoos, lives in a studio apartment, and eats Roman Noodle every night for dinner

PC: Bill Gates, God, Chuck Norris, Bruce Lee, and Gordan Freeman ( and more) combined.

from the sound of all your faggots 360s they’re all made of dicks. Mine has worked perfectly since the day I got it. It has overheated once. But that was because it was a hot day and there was poor airflow.

Yeah my friend still has the 1st gen xbox (they waited in line at best buy) which is used almost every day since, always with new games (he gave it to his younger brother) and it never fucked up once, actually the DVD player committed suicide and had to be replaced, that’s how old it is.

Buy a PS3?

PS3 is not always better, mine got busted a few weeks ago. No audio and video, slow fan speed and started to smell burnt no warning ether. :frowning:

Hope I get it back soon, want to try my AC2.
