Multilanguage and close captioning support?

Well, I’ve seen few threads like this, but there was nothing clear back then.
So, my question is, will it going to support multilanguage and close captioning?

As far as I remember, there was a picture, showing the subtitles. So, it will probably gonna support the subtitles, but what about other languages? I assume that developers wouldn’t share the texts file now, but maybe after the release?
I think it would be good the translate it into other languages after its release, ah? Though I already have the translated Half-Life script, so it wouldn’t be hard to translate that developers add.

What do you guys think about it?

Subtitles in other languages will be available after release by the community. As for multilanguage, I don’t know but it’s very unlikely.

Yes. There will be subtitles. In English. For translation into other languages, once the mod is released, a script of all onscreen text can be provided for translation and inclusion later.

Well, I meant the same think with multilanguage and translations to other languages.
(I think you assumed that I was talking about sound files, right?)

I don’t think that the voice acting will be translated into other languages, but the text files will probably be available after release for the onscreen subtitles. The onscreen graphics such as signs, however, will probably remain in English.

Yeah, only subtitles are going to be translated.

I was talking about only the subtitles.
It’s good to know that mod will be “able-to-translate”.
Hope it will support the speacial letters as well.

Last I heard, fan translations for closed captioning/subtitles will be available after the release by the community. Same goes for the actual script translations as well.

The dev team’s goal at this point seems to be focusing 100% on the single player and getting that out the door. Other things like multiplayer will most likely be done after the release. But other things like the hazard course and the subtitles will be taken on by separate groups of the community.

When this idea was initially discussed as a being a community project, the first thing I thought was that lines like “Ah, good morning Dr. Freeman.” will almost certainly be translated as “Ah, Dr. Freeman - forgot to wear pants again, I see.” - or something.

“Catch me later, I’ll buy you a lap dance.”

This can’t be solved with simple copy-paste into Google Translate can it?

That would be both stupid, and incredibly disrespectful.

Now, I finally found my password to these forums I made, so perhaps they could be added to the wiki or something. I dunno.

It’s good to see there are forums for this, but I’d like to get an official “answer”.
I might even want to translate the wiki.

It even could be a community project!

Your official answer is here.

I meant for getting the translations to put in BM.

Yes, that’s what I mean too.

I thought he was joking.

Nope - he was serious.

That’s kinda funny - but it mostly makes me sad.

Is there the chance to replace B.M.S. audio files with original Half-Life dialogues?

You can, but most of them will not fit.

I don’t get why this project already started. I mean the devs are going to subtly change the dialogue so we don’t know what to translate until the mod is released.
