Multi Core Rendering

Ok, I read that the mod does in fact use a version of the Source engine that supports multicore rendering (basically the Orange Box version). However, when I go into my options, I can’t select anything there. The option for multicore rendering is there, but the box is blank, and if I click the arrow nothing happens. There is no selection for enable or disable. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

All of my Orange Box games (HL2, Portal, etc) all let me enable this.

That’s the case for everyone but I believe multicore rendering is enabled by default.

Multicore support is kinda buggy in the 2007 SDK the game’s code is based on. Blame Valve for not releasing 2009 sources.

Yeah, I just confirmed that it’s turned off actually and trying to turn it on via console will crash the engine.

I just emailed Gabe Newell about it. I doubt he’ll reply but if he does I’ll make sure to repost. Wish me luck.
