MSN 8.0

I want to stick to using MSN 8.0 but MSN wont let me. It forces me to update my version to the crappy MSN 14.6.

Is there any way i can trick MSN into letting me use MSN 8.0, other than having to uninstall MSN 14.6 and install MSN 8.0?

Appreciate any help.

I’m using MSN 8.5 in which I removed all the ads and other useless crap like tabs, search buttons and popups.

Disconnect your internet, msn can’t download updates, and you’re golden.

Anymore on this one? :3
.

Use Pidgin for great justice.

Use 8.5 and it shouldn’t force an update… well, mine hasn’t. I believe any versions older than 8.5 are getting forced to update for some reason.

What’s wrong with the new one?

^This, But I still remember older msn 8.5 being rather good, and it looked far more awesome than pidgin with it’s skins and mods.

It takes up 5 times more memory and has more security vulnerabilities instead of less.

Nearly all the people I know who have the annoying MSN virus(that makes people send random messages generated by spyware) are using the latest version and antivirus software at all times.

Use the mess patch (https://mess.be) on MSN 8.5 to remove anything you want from the UI, you can also use the regular settings window to remove the rest. And of course Pidgin is an awesome alternative which I use on my slower computers.

Yeah I hate those viruses, even if I seem to see less and less of them.

its shite.

ummm so much for keeping 8.5 <_<

Strange, mine hasn’t updated. :freeman:

Specifically I’m still using 8.5.1302.1018 from 2007

See if you can still get 8.5 from the windows live website… they used to have downloads for older versions even as recent as a couple of months ago.

Whats wrong with using the new version?

Last time I was forceably updated, not with this installer though :3

EDIT: screw this, some of the stuff interferes with some of the other stuff, it’s not worth the hassle. Back to Pidgin! <3

Thanks for all the help guys.
