Post your thoughts on an enemy/obstacle/any other problem you’ve encountered in a video game that completely pissed you off.
For me, it has to be the completely overpowered calvalry units in Medieval II: Total War. Units like the Royal Banderium or Qappalulu are almost impossible to kill unless you manage to hit them with a cannon. Which you won’t, since the accuracy of cannons is shit. >
More specifically, WaW, where you are punished for taking cover when the enemy spams grenades at you. Also your rediculously retarded companions who run right past that one guy you’re taking fire from…AND HE’S IN THE OPEN!!!
The CoD games generally have terrible (loathesome really) A.I. in addition to what you listed is finding a great place for cover, and having an A.I. comrade push you right out into the open, because that’s where they are scripted to find cover.
I haven’t played any really nasty game. I wouldn’t say CoD is really a pain in the ass. I haven’t played World at War, but Modern Warfare was fairly easy on Veteran. All you had to do was get to where the guys were spawning from and blam-o- they stop spawning.
I guess the biggest pain in the ass that I can remember is Ninja Gaiden 2 on Master Ninja mode. Never played the other Ninja Gaidens, but I gave up on Master Ninja for NG2. I usually try to beat a game at it’s hardest setting.
The original Xbox edition of Ninja Gaiden’s Master Ninja difficulty makes NG2’s look like a cakewalk. Absolutely killer game when you begin to nail the timing and patterns between attack and defense.
I also forgot to mention (though I have in other threads) figuring out how to do anything or even what to do in the Atari E.T. The Videogame. Needed to throw in the classic retro title in this thread.
Speaking of classics, I remember absolutely loathing Bowser’s final castle in Super Mario Brothers. Damn that castle and curse that clock.
-I hate the singleplayer mode you had to do in Street Fighter 4 to unlock characters.
-Every forced tutorial or audio tips you can’t turn off in any game. especially if you’re starting the game over because you forgot to save.
-Really tricky or boring dungeons in Zelda, although they were satisfying when you completed them.
-having to start over a whole multi-step mission on grand theft auto games after you failed
-adding friend codes on wii because nintendo never thought to include good online play
It’s sad but true. Speakong of CoD, since you’re doing all these heroic things (i.e. killing Nazis for Russians, killing terrorists for the SAS), why don’t your commanding officers (Reznov/Roebuck/etc.) ever promote you and give you your own sqaud? (Although that would just lead to more cover problems). The cover issue with allies was less present in CoD 4 though, since there was about 90% less guys in the entire game, compared to WaW where there were would be an entire division shoved into a closet.
By the way, what the hell is The Cloak and Dagger?
But eventually you get so overpowerd in that game that you can kill anything. And if not drink 10 sujamma strength potions (stackable) and kill most stuff in one hit.
