Monitor Optimization

I just got a new LCD monitor [Asus VH222H] and I was wondering if anyone here could give me a quick crash course or some tips on optimizing the color settings for it. Getting the blacks really black, and the colors just right, etc.

Your video card drivers should have exactly that.
ATI or Nvidia?

Also if you have Windows 7 and maybe Vista, there’s a color calibration built into that as well
