Mod release speculation thread

Well THAT’S a given!

But just a thought, have they ever actually said they would be releasing the mod to the general public? D:

don’t go putting ideas into Ram’s head! :fffuuu:

rofl, “Hey guys, Black Mesa is finished! We’re going to go play it now. Thanks for sticking with us while we made this great game for ourselves.”

“By the way, thanks for all the gibs, snacks, and ideas you gave us. You will all be banned in 3, 2 1. Have a nice day.”

Not to veer off-topic but i have the original Half-Life. it trips really bad with multicore processors. i can set the game to run with ONE, but having to minimize, maximize or save and quit and reset the processor settings would be such a hassle that it wouldn’t be any fun. if i were to play both games at once, the best setup would be two games on two computers. Less load time, more play time. Less hassle, more fun.

Now the question is : Do i just start replaying Half-Life NOW? i mean, it could help to shave off some wait time for Black Mesa but i’d be done in…like…6 hours!

-Kawai Tei-

Seeing as balck meas is coming out tomorrow, replay it now quick!

:retard:

Ooh, I’ll hold my breath!

Edit: Wait! balck meas is not the game I’m looking for!

While I do want the mod to be released as soon as possible, I probably won’t be playing it when it is released. I am unemployed, and I don’t think my current Radeon 2600xt AGP/Pentium 4 (3.0 GHZ WITH HYPA-THRIDAN!) system can handle it. HL2 EP2 runs fine with some settings (namely:motion blur) turned off, but team fortress 2 is unplayable.

Have you tried forcing it to run DX8? You can get significant framerate boosts without much perceived loss in quality. It’s what I did for Dino D-day and I was able to run it full-spec on my computer from 2005.

Is there any word on what the performance will be like? Can the performance be compared to be equivalent to running HL2, HL2EP1 or HL2EP2 ?

I know that my older system was able to run HL2 well, struggled with EP1 and wasn’t playable with EP2. It would be useful for others to have some idea of what to expect.

you won’t be able to play…

They said that it will be slightly more taxing on your system than Episode 2, so be warned.

I am glad that EP2 on screams along on my updated system.

For people who do have trouble, we can refer them to an alternate solution, that of playing the original HL.

Oh shit guys, I just realized- if you release mid to late December, I am going to be hella busy with shooting my TV pilot. If you wouldn’t mind, could you please hold off till February at least for the release, so I can finish editing and then have free time to play BMS? Thanks, Jon.

:fffuuu: Times two!

Actually, I was planning to fly out to LA during March to shop around the pilot. Could you just push it back to summer? I’ll have more free time then.

Hell, I can’t plan that far ahead. Just stick it somewhere between 2011 and 2015 and I’ll probably be able to pencil in some playtime.

To ease the initial rush we could even make it an April 1 release.

What about Christmas EVE?..i can see it right in front of me…snow everywhere, Christmas specials on TV, im eating yummy things and then i check the Blackmesasource page and see the words “ITS FINALLY HERE”…
