I was asking myself, why do we have those mini-games in some games? Do you usually enjoy them? Or they just piss you off ?
For example, Dead Space, lvl 4 “The asteroid mini-game” …it pissed me off :meh:

Bio/SystemShock hacking was awesome.
The DS thing was pretty fun and easy for me. In any case, if its a good minigame, it tends to work, if its not, it tends to not work. Most get repetitive fast, though, no matter how fun they were.
Stop talking to yourself.
Sounds like a personal problem
Its like a lot of other things in games, if done right it is great if done wrong it can be god awful.
…your opinion…
I loved the one in Machinarium because it had a good reason and was pretty original… but still it got repetative after a while
Prey had some ‘waste of time’ casino games in it…
super turbo turkey puncher 3
best minigame of all time
MMMMMMMM love that one button punching gameplay
THIS. When I first saw it I was like OH MY FUCKING GOD CAN I PLAY DOOM ON THAT THING, no, ah well, pretty cool anyway.
Guarantee it Doom 4’s turkey puncher will be more advanced, and It will be the doom 1 engine, running on an ingame machine, where you run around and punch turkeys in real time.
When you said minigames in games, for some reason the first thing that popped in my mind were these:
Motorcycle chase
Chocobo Racing
Geometry Wars 2 is my favorite I think. Though it’s actually its own game now…
Shooting the pyjacks was great fun.
Of course I love them
Remember those levels you get in Lego SW II where you get to play as minikits you’ve completed? Those were neat.
SUPER TURBO TURKEY PUNCHER III
in doom 3
edit; sersoft beat me
Mini-games that are deviate from the regular gameplay mechanics are best left optional.
But I’m not sure how I feel about them rewarding the player with unique items that make the game easier.
They’re also best when they make sense for them to exist in-story.
Hacking on Alpha Protocol is ridiculously frustrating.
It actually looks like a good game, too bad it’s so badly optimized!!!
