Microsoft Vista or Windows 7?

It’s just too bad I threw away my Vista CD. The only Use I found about Vista was that new tab thing on the right side of the screen where a clock and calender was and the UI was better too

About 7. :3

runs and hides

I’ve had both. I can surely say 7 is much, much better than Vista for me. My games ran a small percentage faster after the switch as well.

7 for sure. Went from XP to 7 and never looked back!

Yes games are alot faster in windows 7. I’m stuck with vista until the summer.

Why not XP? atleast XP 64bits? doesn’t it takes less resources?

Yes, but most modern computers are just as capable of running 7 as they are XP. Vista on the other hand was a lot more resource-hungry. And that’s not the only thing you need to consider when choosing an OS. Windows 7 has a lot more security features, it has hardware driver optimization, it has out-of-the-box support for a lot of things, including DVD and Blu-Ray playback, and is all-around more aesthetically pleasing.

Besides, XP is almost a decade old. Support for XP is dwindling and soon it will become obsolete altogether, just like Windows 2000 and the OS’s before it. XP is fine for a netbook or old laptop but Windows 7 will run great on just about everything else.

Why would you throw it away? - I still have my windows 3.0 and DOS 5 disks!

I would gladly go back to win 2000 if microsoft still supported it.

Running 7 on my desktop simply because I got a new hard drive and my XP cd was scratched.

That’s the only OS CD I have ever trashed. I still have DOS 5 and even Windows Mellinum Edition.(Can’t spell it) I have 95 and 98. I even have XP 64-bit. Though, I never found a use for 64-bit. I could really tell the difference between 32 and 64. What are the difference really?

But I hardly ever use DOS 5 any more. I believe Linux has replaced that. Oh about Linux. I can’t seem to find one with a perfect gaming feature in it besides Ubuntu gnome edition. I can like use the Playonlinux tool and I find the game I own but a lot of them I don’t see that I own like Modern Warfare 2 or Bad Company 2 and if they ain’t on there, you can’t play it. I was hoping there was one like windows where you just install it and you don’t have to wait for Linux to come out with it. Are there any better ones?

You could try Cedega, https://www.cedega.com/explore/
I’ve heard good things about it.

Compatibility layer for Linux to implement DirectX.
It’s basically WINE but centered on gaming.

From his post it sounds like he hasn’t tried Wine yet either, sudo apt-get wine!

This’d be a good idea, considering wine doesn’t cost anything and may work just as well (if not better) than cedega. Haven’t used either in a long time so I can’t say

7 obviously, it’s what Vista should have been but wasn’t.

I have tried Wine. There’s an update for it too called Playonlinux. I tried them both but it wasn’t what I was looking for. Cedega sounds like something I could try out. It is an Operating system right? or is it just a file to dl for linux?

it’s a program

And Playonlinux is a fork of Wine, not an update.

Windows 7, and buy it.

Whenever I had key issues, I’d just ring MS and say I put a new MoBo/HDD in and they’d give me a new key.

Hmm… I might try this next time I have key issues. Sounds like a winner ;p
