Metaru Gia Soriddo Faibu Za Fantomu Pein - 25 minutes of gameplay

I personally don’t care if the enemies don’t see the Fulton pickups. I just want to have fun and not have to worry about that particular element during my stealth gameplay.

Maybe enemies don’t see it on easy and normal difficulty but do see it on hard, where the strategy could change to extract stuff only after you’ve cleaned up the entire area.

The cardboard box is SO FUCKING COOL now. I never used it in almost any MG game, but the decoy and pop up shooting features totally make it work 900x better. Why the hell didn’t they think of this stuff in earlier games?

But yeah, it looks like they took the best bits of MGS4 and Peace Walker, and then stick it in an open world blender.

And Ocelot is voiced by Troy Fucking Baker. Yeah, I’ll have to save up for a PS4…

The way they implemented fulton is just jarring with the rest of the stuff. Why build up immersion with believable environs, animations and guard behaviours when you’re going to break it anyway?

Like I said, cool set pieces.

You can kind of use the box as a decoy in the earlier games, but you have to unequip it with very precise timing - as an enemy is picking it up. Dash behind them, and they’ll be none the wiser.

Kojima loves breaking the fourth wall - your immersion would be lost anyway. :stuck_out_tongue:

Plus it’s just a fantastic tactical tool. I do wish we could actually see a plane go by to snag the hook, though.

ODB hates fun.

And America.

Except the enemy searching for you if you’re caught in MGS2 isn’t a set piece.

Mmm-hmm

Whatever does this have to do with not having fun?

Who doesn’t?

You mean room clearings? It pretty much is a set piece. It doesn’t show the AI making any decisions. They just sweep the area via pre-arranged routes.

P.S. Yeah, new cardboard box mechanics is the most positive thing out of that demo.

Oh, and LOOK AT THIS MOTHER BASE GAMEPLAY. I hope we can walk on the whole thing, every platform. That would be so badass.

I hope there’s a minigame on that oil rig where you can cause or prevent the BP disaster.

i havent played any metal gear solid games (never had a playstation) but those animations make me rock hard

although the fulton thing seems like a decent idea, it is oh so close to actually being something they can keep without destroying immersion. instead of having them take off immediately, the balloon should just hang around until you can trigger a mass-liftoff of all balloons, which would add two things to the game: you can’t just erase bodies from the scenario, you would have to make sure you only use the fulton on things that are not going to be discovered, and you also won’t destroy immersion by having that prop plane fly by and take something every 10 seconds; it would only have to take one pass. Snake could trigger all the fultons to take off once he’s in the clear and doesn’t need to worry about being detected, and then the plane comes through (and if you could physically see it, that would be amazing).

this thing they have going on now is just… so strange.

The thing they have going on right now is pure Metal Gear, really. Peace Walker had more or less the same system.

What’s more immersion breaking for me are soldiers that were knocked unconscious or put to sleep yelling while they are being lifted off.

That’s what gives the Fulton its comedy though!

Novelty factor wears off after you hear it the second time.

See, there’s TONS of ways to improve it from what they had in PW.
What they’ve got now is a fucking gimmick straight from a fucking PSP game (it was weird even then).
But the real problem? It is pretty much a free (let’s get fucking real - those ‘GMPs’ will probably be plentiful) option to outright wipe the guard off the map without anybody noticing. Really, am I the only one here who sees this? Might as well just make them blink and disappear just like in MGS1…

P.S. That guy who got airlifted without getting tranq’d - he actually yells out ‘somebody, get me off that thing’ - and NO ONE GIVES A SHIT.
Despite 3 guards chilling just 15 meters away…

Well, maybe the higher difficulties will make them notice…

That was my thought on the first page.

They’d fucking better.

You’d think Kojima would’ve noticed ODB’s requests for MGS by now, right?

Did you really have to do this, Maxey?
