Metal & Rock'n roll lovers , gather here

no this is not thread about what bands u listen to ,its about how u first got into metal and rock’n Roll music in general ,I’ll start

I was 5 when I first heard this music ,back in 1995 my older brother brought these Cassettes & CDs of Metallica ,Slayer and Nirvana , I remember the first songs I ever heard were Nothing else matters by Metallica ,Raining blood by slayer and Come as you are by Nirvana

what about you ?

Nirvana is grunge.

It’s still rock though.

but yeah saying rock and metal and generalizing it like that is almost like saying “music lovers come here”

This is now the “music with guitars” thread

grunge is a part of rock

all metal and rock music descends from the original rock of the 50s ,it’s like this big tree

No offence, but specifically Nirvana falls IMHO in the “vomit” style.I can, however listen to other grunge bands.

Yep, love metal. I also love classical, jazz and acoustic stuff.

Few favorites.

  • Devin Townsend
  • All Shall Perish
  • Black Dahlia Murder
  • Buckethead
  • Children Of Bodom
  • The Faceless
  • Gojira
  • Heaven Shall Burn
  • In Flames
  • Led Zeppelin
  • Megadeth
  • Metallica
  • Machine Head
  • Necrophagist
  • Opeth
  • Strapping Young Lad
  • Trivium

I tried to keep it small but it just kept going, a select few anyway. Been listening to Metallica and such for about 6 years now.

I grew up listening to Alice Cooper, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Queen, etc.
When I was 12, I was totally fascinated by KoRn, but about 1-2 years later I abandoned Nu Metal and turned to Death and Thrash Metal.

A little summary:

Dark Tranquillity
In Flames
Soilwork
At The Gates
Scar Symmetry
Nightrage
Metallica
DevilDriver
Macbeth
Amon Amarth
Arch Enemy
Hypocrisy
Bloodbath
Kataklysm
Machine Head
The Haunted

Nice list.

it’s your opinion after all

wow you’re so smart i bet no one else knows that

Anyway, anyone that limits himself to one type of music (even if it has as wide a range as rock), limits himself.

GTFO you narrow minded fool.

i only like heavy metal bands leik blink 182 and linkin park

you best be trolling!

haha lol

Mine:

  • Queen
  • Nirvana
  • U2
  • AC/DC
  • Led Zeppelin
  • Limp Bizkit (fuck yeah, waiting for Gold Cobra release)
  • NIN
  • MM
  • (rarely) Metallica
  • (very rarely) Pink Floyd

Generally, for headbangin’ I prefer some Electro House to your stupid heavy metal.

To make a very short story, Grunge is a sub-genre of Punk, which is a sub-genre of Metal, which is a sub-genre of Rock. So yeah basically, this thread should be named: Music with a guitar and a drum lovers, gather here.

Wiki

I grew up to my father’s favorites, Billy Joel, Simon and Garfunkel, Pink Floyd, Meat Loaf and stuff. Then as I got my own radio I started listening to regular 80s rock bands and moved into hair bands. Then one weekend when I was 14 I heard a lot of Anthrax and Metallica. I started trying to find more and more heavy music after that. I went on to Slayer, then Morbid Angel, Morgoth, Carcass, and Sepultura.

Now, I am so steeped in heavy metal it’s almost all that I listen to. Sure, I have a few rock CDs laying about. Chevelle (playing now), Skindred, Hurt, A Perfect Circle, Butthole Surfers, nine Inch Nails, Disturbed, and Living Colour, but most of what I listen to mixed metal.
