I heard someone was making something using Crysis engine.
Problem is though, original Snatcher is what it is - and making into a modern-type game would strip the new game of many things that made the original great - hence I would probably be against it, just as I’m against remakes of MG and MG2.
However, doing new things with Snatcher IP is an endeavour I support. Would make excited even if they’d go as far as making a direct sequel.
As long as they include the original for people new to the franchise to play catch-up with. The original Snatcher is rather rare in North America, as I recall.
On the topic of remakes, I’d probably be against a MGS1 remake if they ever attempted it again just because they would fuck with the voice acting and the music. IMO for snake especially, Hayter sounded a lot more natural in the role in the first game, mostly for his pain and grunting sounds, and death screams.
I know it’s incredibly small, but it just annoys me how his yells turned into something very raspy sounding in the later games.
Most fans out there don’t really give a shit about story, but changing David Hayter is a big move. He is Snake, he’s been Snake in almost all professional releases of English Metal Gear titles and he’s been doing it ever since MGS1. It’s not surprising why people would be upset considering the internet and how much people fear change.
EDIT: “I have been up in Toronto, for the past eight months, directing my first film,” Hayter explained. “On the December break, I came home to Los Angeles for the holidays. I heard then, that recording sessions for MG:V were being put together. But I didn’t hear anything about whether I’d be needed or not. So, I got in touch with someone involved in the production. We got together for lunch, and he told me that they ‘wouldn’t be needing me’ on this game. No reason, or explanation was given beyond that. And that was it.”
What an asshole way to put him down easily, Konami.
Kojima is a notorious troll. There’s no way in hell Snake won’t be voiced by Hayter. Heck, Hayter’s letter was dated April 1st. So yeah, trololololololol.
I’m not laughing, Konami. Tell us what we think we already know, and DON’T PULL A UBISOFT AND REPLACE YOUR MAIN CHARACTER’S VOICE. FUCKING REALLY.
I have the original versions of all the games so I’m planning on picking this new thing up as it includes the HD versions plus MGS1 and 4. Is there any difference with MGS4 in this collection? I recall it having some separate subtitle. Also, is this new one physical or digital only?
Have anything that shows them looking worse? 720p and 60 fps (I know it’s not stable for MGS3 but still better than 15 fps) is pretty cool. I’ve been emulating MGS2 but I have a feeling the HD version runs better than my emulated version, and the low fps causes weird sound issues.
Playing it without slowdowns and with pressure sensitive buttons wouldn’t damper my enjoyment of it either. Not to mention that I think MGS3 doesn’t play very well on emulators.
Means fuck all. If anything, that extra crispness helps you see better how actually shit the textures, drawn for 576i and optimized for PS2, look on a massive flat panel.
MGS3 epilogue scene looks rather horrible in HD.
Well the most obvious one is completely fubar’ed bloom in MGS3.
Shit’s on the left so crisp yo.
And that’s just one scene.
I actually went and checked several HD playthroughs just to check - all of them had the same problem. You an look up the actual cutscene on youtube yourself if you don’t believe me.
Plus plenty of other other small stuff like particles not rendering properly - i.e. petals falling thorugh the ground after you finished fighting with the boss (the actual flowers look horrible upscaled too), GORGE SEARS instead of George Sears, horrible fonts, etc etc.
Mostly stems from bluepoint being a bunch of incompetent lazy fucks who cannot do their job properly:
The ‘Snake Eater’ intro sequence was out of sync too.
I don’t know man. Stuff like that is a deal breaker for me.
Lol emulators.
In all seriousness, the way to go buy a used ps2 for 20-30 bucks (good condition), find original Subtance and Subsistance for 40- 50 bucks total and play it the way it was meant to be played.
That’s exactly what I did - have yet to regret it. I had to buy a capture card for another 20 bucks since I don’t have a TV set where I currently live. My laptop has a big enough screen so I hook my PS2 up, fullscreen it and move the display a couple meters away.
It looks brill in native resolution (duh), PS2 trademark blur helps conceal the visual flaws, all fonts are still perfectly readable despite me seating quite far away, no glitches, effects actually looking the way they were meant to look.
And all the stuff you get with Subsistance and substance you don’t get in HD collection - Document of MGS2, MGS3 boss rush, Snake vs Monkey, original MGO (there’s something brewing about bringing the servers up locally), Existence, Secret Theatre.
I don’t mind spending 20 bucks more for all that over an HD collection blu-ray.
I already have all the games in their original forms, like I said. Those pictures you posted look kind of crazy though. The smoother framerate is worth it for me I’d say. I know that MGS2 already runs at 60 fps (except for cutscenes), but 3 does not. And I would also prefer to play Peacewalker on something other than the PSP.
I’ve actually never played the MGO on MGS3, so that’s cool if what you’re saying about them is true. I’d prefer it for MGO2 though. I hope that if not they come out with another version with MGS5.
