When they revealed it, didn’t it say “Lightning Bolt Action”?
I really don’t think that effects much.
If you make a new Splinter cell that says fast paced run&gun action, people will still expect stealth because that’s what the IP is established as.
Besides, MGS had a lot of action too if you chose to not be stealthy, people probably assumed it was a “when you fight” type of thing.
My real problem isn’t the lack of stealth though, more the fact that the game (from the trailer) seems to betray the mood of typical Metal Gear games. Also, Raiden’s voice actor still sucks at acting.

Well, at least they´ve kept that funny old alert sound

He’s one of those anime voice actors. All they have to do is sound cool and honk a lot.
…honk?
I never liked Raiden. Didn’t like him in MGS2, still don’t like him.
I didn’t mind the change of perspective in MGS2, but would have liked playing as someone other than Raiden.
…wait a minute, this game is actually called “Revengeance?” That wasn’t the OP trying to be funny?
Raiden needs his second dose of vengeance.
Just looked up the Japanese title to see if it was just a stupid localization thing, but nope, the Japanese title is the English title spelled out in Japanese.
buhuhuhuhuhuhu
so it’s obviously not going to be another serious sneaky espionage snorefest
Instead it’s going to be a repetitive button-mashing snorefest.
This /\
let’s wait and see
Nah, lets just bash on it pre-emtively
Warning: The spoilertext contains spoilers for MGS2 and MGS4.
The one thing that really irks me about this game’s existence is that it undermines the entire point of Metal Gear Solid 2 in the first place. [color=black] After all, at the end of the game after Raiden kills Solidus, he tosses away the nametags inscribed with the player’s birthdate, name, and details. Considering the deconstructive nature of the story with regards to video games, this was supposed to represent Raiden refusing to be controlled by the player or anyone else anymore. Thus, with the new game, this entire point is undermined because [color=black] Raiden is once again player-controlled.
Then again, I suppose if [color=black] a similar story point is made here, namely if the game is supposed to deconstruct the Devil May Cry game design and make us feel like bastards for cutting people into tiny little chunks, then it could potentially work. Besides, when it comes to Kojima Productions, the trailers they cut together are often deliberately misleading. Remember the trailers for MGS4 where they [color=black] copy-pasted some of the real time cutscenes for Raiden into the Middle East, rather than where the sequence actually takes place in South America?
Meh… I’ll still play it
I still feel like Platinum games can do really well. Originally Platinum games thought that Kojima was kidding when he asked them to do the newest Metal Gear game. https://bit.ly/yuFgNi
This game is likely to bomb, but I don’t care. I just want to cut people with a katana.
