That’s a multiplayer only mod, right? I was interested in it during its development, but I’d prefer something with a single-player campaign…

Yeah my thoughts exactly. I never got into the multiplayer of the Mechwarrior games. Honestly, too much games and mods are multiplayer focussed these days. Give me a good old story driven singleplayer anytime.
I think they are planning on making a single player in the future, but having an
MP beta just makes it easier to get an all around functioning mod with many
assets done, so afterwords they can worry about things like story,
mission-based level design, and AI coding. But that’s way in the future, so - I
wouldn’t hold my breath for that.
It is a pretty good mod though, very MW like.
