Massive CSS Framerate Drop

I don’t know what the problem is with CSS, I normally run it at medium setting with about 60 FPS, and it just suddenly dropped to 4 FPS no matter what I do to the settings.

I don’t know if this could have anything to do with it, but I just recently transferred my Steam Cloud settings over to it before playing it, so that might be the problem somehow. Any help?

What’s your system specs?

Have you tried any other games? If this is happening in all of your games, then it’s probably a GPU failure of some kind. Technology doesn’t age as well as you would think.

If it’s only relevant to CS: Source, have you recently updated any drivers? Did you accidentally change the render mode in the options?

are you running dual-screen? switch the secondary screen to primary or try running CS in window mode and move it to the other screen

What would that do? I’m genuinely curious, ever since I’ve been using dual monitors I’ve lost like 15 FPS in all games, 30 in windowed mode.

Hey guys, my fps is low help me please :frowning:
I wont post my PC specs because that wont fix anything

Put all your settings to low, close all programs running in the background, make sure your drivers are upto date.

All the obvious things are the only advice anyone can give without specifics.

Can’t help beyond that. You should give your specs to people when asking for this sort of help anyway, as it tells us whether it’s just because you have a crap computer or not, in which case we can tell whether or not there’s an actual problem.

What? I was basically just saying what the OP said, I don’t have any issues.

I forgot to check the thread, my bad. And why the fuck would you be whining about my specs if I just told you up above that it works on medium with about 60 FPS. No idea what the problem was, but I restarted my computer and that fixed it. No idea why.

That’s not enough enough information. It might be a problem specific to your processor or video card.

this goes for everyone, unless your problem is occurring outside the realm of your computer, POST YOUR FUCKING SPECS

Why is it necessary for him to post his specs? It makes zero difference if he is running a beef rig or a shitty one, as long as he states that the game usually runs at a better rate then it currently does on a substantial level.

His problem can only be caused by a handful of things, none of which can be narrowed down by knowing the name of his graphics card or CPU.

Chances are that something he opened was eating away at his CPU or GPU and he either didn’t know it was eating it and kept it up, or it was doing so invisibly in the BG. Hell, maybe there was just a memory leak or something.

Either way, his specs wouldn’t have helped AT ALL.

If anything you should refrain from posting your specs, because everybody always just assumes your PC should be upgraded to hell and back even if it has nothing to do with the current troubleshooting.

This thread is dumb. It’s made of herp and derp.

Maybe not in this case but I can often narrow it down from the specs, even if it runs fine usually, people always forget to post their specs, or they just post their OS. I’m not gonna say “OMG UPGRADE” because my own PC is several years old now and yet it runs crysis2 at 30 and bulletstorm at 60fps.
