I dunno I play hard and I play vanguard. Of course you are not supposed to charge into an army. It’s a really fun thing to do with fewer enemies though. Nice mix of biotics and combat. You get to punch some faces! I sure hope biotics aren’t that bad in the game though.
You weren’t the only one. ME2’s combat was a lot more dumbed down.
Yay for realism. Now they can delete all games that include guns.
I went through the single player as a Vanguard first. Was initially disappointed by the lack of places to use charge during the opening encounters, and then during the stint on the Salarian homeworld it felt like fully specced out charge still took 20 seconds to cooldown.
Was disheartened by that, but then giving the multiplayer a shot and being able to customize the loadout really made a difference. Carrying around just a shotgun nets charge a 4.7ish second cooldown. It’s unreal how much fun that makes it.
I think the demo really should of allowed you to discard some of your weapons; as it stands if you’re someone new to the series you’d probably take the extremely slow power cooldowns at face value.
it’s more just expecting competence from the enemy, expecting that they can do with a gun the same thing to me as I can to them.
In ME1 if you were full renegade your face stayed the same. In KOTOR being REALLY BAD caused the dark side to screw up your face. Not sure about Dragon Age, but what other games do that where they ‘evil-fy’ your face when you do bad things?
You just listed 'em both.
Exactly. If there are any others I sure as hell haven’t heard of them.
Doesn’t Fable?
Hey guys, ME2 is currently on sale at Amazon for $4.99 and the Digital Deluxe edition is $7.49. The cheapest I’ve seen the regular version is $9.99 downloadable at Gamestop and $19.99 everywhere else. The cheapest I’ve seen the Digital Deluxe edition is $29.99.

ETA: ME1 is also on sale for $4.99: https://www.amazon.com/Mass-Effect-Pc/dp/B00140P9BA/ref=sr_1_1_title_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1329556739&sr=1-1
So buy them if it’s not already done
Star Wars: The Old Republic
You look like a zombie and your eyes turn red. No change if you go light side.
Isn’t that the way it works in the SW universe anyway? Even one of the movies had that bs.
Okay, okay, so while I can’t really come up with more examples than the ones already noted, I feel like I’ve seen it (or at least heard of it) in some other stuff, probably more obscure and less memorable.
And while these may have explanations to some degree, they’re usually so bullshit, and generally just boils down to “OooOOoo! Magic” or “OoooOOoo! The force” or plain and simply “OOOOooOOOooOOO!”
Well now, let’s forget this silliness and get back on topic, we’re supposed to discuss Mass Effect here, after all.
Played the demo and ME3 seems to run better than ME2. But apparently they left out being able to holster/unholster your weapon whenever you want because of the RAM limitations of the consoles.
So yeah the multiplayer for ME3 is pretty fucking incredible.
I was expecting a boring “multiplayer for the sake of multiplayer” like Dead Space 2.
I doubt that’s true. To my recolelction, there’s always been entire missions in both Mass Effect games where you can’t holster you gun. They only let you walk around casual if you’re just roaming the waiting areas between assigments.
So if Bioware decided to make all characters run around backwards all the time you would chalk that to RAM limitations instead of a retarded design decision?
Yeah it’s a bit annoying that you can’t unholster during those missions but I’m pretty sure it’s because Bioware decided so, not because of hardware limitations, as I’m sure there will be a unholstering animation, even if automatic.
Oh wow, honestly that just reeks of lack of optimization. I’ve seen console exclusive games with much better graphics and a lot more stuff going on at the same time that not only have more and better animation, they also allow you to use all the different animation stances at any time.
Then again Bioware is not exactly a top notch team when it comes to push graphical technology and they are specially average at best when it comes to animation.
I mean, they still haven’t figured out how to use inverse kinematic for correct leg positioning in any of their games and that’s specially jarring in the ME games, since they use UE3, which supports that from the very beginning and even UT3 used it.
I’ve always loved how there’s a chance for whatever you just shot dead to freeze in place atop an invisible platform 6 inches off the floor
