I feel the need to waste massive chunks of my life again, and nothing can achieve that in quite the same way as a good management game
I’ve played all the Simcity series, and Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 and 3, and thoroughly enjoyed them. Can any of you fine people recommend something else to try?
Jurassic Park Operation Genesis (Here’s a Challenge; find a Legitimate copy!)
JPOG is pretty easy to mod if you know what you’re doing. You can Change prices of items, Research time, Tour Vehicle maximum altitude/range, Change the models of the guests to those of the dinosaurs, all from the source files (which are text files, easily re-written).
The original Stronghold was an RTS however it also had a peaceful campaign where you managed resources. If you also like RTS that you should defiantly pick up.
Well, if you’ve tried all those and are up for a challenge I can recommend Civilization IV. There’s quite a nice offer on Steam at the moment as well. It takes a while to get the hang of it, and it takes lots of effort to master it completely, but once you do, you’ll realize it’s simply one of the (if not the) best strategy/management game ever made.
Plus it has an incredible replay value, since no two games are the same and there’s no strategy that guarantees victory. It’s absolutely one of my favorites and I can’t wait until Civilization V comes out.
Good games from back in the day? Railroad Tycoon… Not my fav though. Personal favourite was always Transport Tycoon (Deluxe). If you’re gonna go back to TTD, I bring your attention to TTD Patch and OpenTTD.
Theme Hospital was always nice, as was RCT, Pharaoh and Ceasar 3…
