Lost

I bet they won’t come on TV until September here :expressionless:

hav u tried watching the first ep? I watched a mid season 2 episode first and thought wtf is this rubbish, watching it from the start made that view change instantly, now I can’t get enough!! ARGH!

It is indeed mindfuck, but that is why we like it!

Sometimes things doesn’t have to make sense. Just like love!

Lost is absolute shite! There’s a big difference between making a show that’s mysterious and making a show with fuck all in the way of a story. I think that the writers themselves don’t even know what the fuck it’s all about, they just pretend it’s this really deep story with interesting twists.

The first seven seasons of the X-Files were mysterious and had interesting plot twists, but they also had a great overarching storyline or some nice standalone monster of the week episodes.

Lost on the other hand is mindless dribble, it amazes me this show is hailed as great television because it’s just awful.

Do you like Fringe?

All that matters is you never know where Lost is going to go next, who’s going to die, how the storys going to be told, its a show that doesnt fear to push the boundaries or take risks of what a story can acheive on TV, and in the world of TV that is a blessing

There are many mystreys, many questions, which people debate and theorize on, if people watched it and said nothing because it was all pointed out to them it wouldn’t be a mystrey show. Take the great season 5 cliffhanger, did they change the future? can they change there destiny? who is bsg? what excatly was his loophole, how did he take over lockes body?

And BSG and Jacob are the ultimate proof that the story was always heading in one direction, from the first season, the first few episodes, were Locke explained to Walt the rules of Backgammon, one side is black, one side is white and Locke’s unquie vision of the “monster” reflect what is going on now

now lets get back to discussing LA X and Losts sixth season please

Yeah I tried but it wasn’t for me. I do enjoy the re-cap episodes cause its like a bunch of mindfucking at once and makes you just go what the hell. I’m not saying a bad show I’m just saying its a mindfucker and thats the way the writers intended.

Of course, each to his own taste, some love expolisons, cgi and kick ass soundtracks, some love big laughs, and some just love to have their mind raped on a weekly basis via a damn gd mystrey

This is what I’m talking about, just because you don’t know where a show is going next doesn’t mean it’s a deep and well thought out story. I could’ve made a show set on a tropical island, and then decided to have a mysterious black cloud in it. And then make it a fucking polar bear, but that’s not an interesting storyline, it’s a load of incoherent ideas thrown into the show.

Just because tons of people watch a show doesn’t mean it’s a good show. I’m sure many people watch the stoning of a twelve year old girl on al-qaeda TV but that doesn’t make it a good show.

That was the point I made earlier on in the thread, but apparently voicing your opinion makes you a troll.

I think the awards speak for themselves not the viewing figures, if you don’t like it or get it thats cool but theres no denying that Lost is, maybe not all the time but most, a well written drama that compells you to talk about it at the water cooler(Thats probably why so many of us losties are so damn annoying to non-losties lol)

You’re not a troll just misguided, I think the basic arguement is if you haven’t watched it all how can you judge it? It sounds ridilocous but when you watch it, it all makes sense, well for a while then bam it pulls the rug from under ya and it doesnt again. Its like me saying oh yeah I heard about bioshock 2, what a lot of nonsense, that games well rubbish, despite the fact iv never played it all the way through

And besides I think this arguement should be saved for about 17 weeks time when the curtain falls and the story ends, if the finale doesnt conclude nothing then it was going nowere and was a pointless waste of the 120 hours plus I’ve devoted my life to it

Awards my arse, that doesn’t mean anything. If Lost hadn’t had such good viewing rates it would never have gotten any awards. It’s all Hollywood bullshit.

There’s a shitload of other TV shows that got awards even though they didn’t deserve it, and there are just as many shows that don’t get an award even though they’re really good.

I really like Lost. Maybe it’s not a shit show, but you just don’t like it?

I don’t like it and I don’t mind that other people do like it. What I hate about it is the fact that people keep insisting that it’s this great show with a deep story even though it’s just an incoherent mess of unfinished ideas.

I can find no better example of this type of show done right than the X-Files. That was a show that had mystery and interesting plot twists, AND a deep story and fleshed out characters.

How can you say it’s an incoherent mess of unfinished ideas if you haven’t watched it consistently?

I’m not going to say it has a super duper great deep story, but it is compelling and interesting if you follow it, and if you like it.

You’re acting the way the those Lost fans you hate act.

Awards generally don’t mean a hell of a lot, and the fact that it’s talked about means even less. People always used to talk about Friends, and you can’t honestly say that was an amazing show.

Like I’ve already stated that is not the case, a lot of answers have already been revealed and are fitting in to place in its final season. Sometimes they have to strech things out but that is the nature of TV when you have such a linear story. Things make sense but you have to watch it from start to finish to get it

And your constant refrences to the X-Files are irrellevant, X-Files was just simply a twist on every other cop show that we are forced to endure, it was strecthed out far to long and its BS Mulders gone missing! ark was a fine example of a show that went on when it should have ended and one that was made up as it went along. Every season it was the same thing, it never radically dared to change its format to suite its story

As for charchters Lost has some of the finest, Ben Linus is regarded by many as one of TV’S greatest ever bad guys (The actor even won an award last year), Locke, Charlie, Sawyer, Sun, Des ‘n’ Pen, Hurley are a few more fine examples of charchters with intresting back storys and strong personailtys, none have never really strayed from there charchters or done anything out of charchter. The writers have even said Charchters in Lost is their first thought in writing. And I’m sure Des ‘n’ Pens phonecall won an award as well, Charlies scrafice should have done but hey can’t win 'em all. So again that arguement is irrellevant

Losts viewing figures ain’t brillant think its been between 5 and 10 million in America the past couple of years, can’t be sure, so if it isn’t the viewing figures what win Lost awards, I wonder what it is?

And if you find the first episode so boring, with characters that you don’t care about? To me, it is just a shitty show.

Biased critics is generally the answer for undeserved awards.

i really cant understand why some of you hate it with such passion, if you dont like it fair enough, but that doesnt suddenly make the show, the writing and the actors in it “a load of sh*t”, look at JJ the man is an amazing talent and was the co-creator of this wonderful show, Emmerson and o quinn amazing actors and to top this off the show has great twists take this breathtaking momment as an example. And I can’t think of many shows like this on TV, Flashforward? What a flop be lucky to last till the end of its second season. Heroes? Been limping since the exploding man. Jericho/Invasion came close but were cancelled before there time. The point being not many shows can keep there stories as engaging and as intresting for such a long time as well as Lost

And Emmerson so deserved his award, the guy is brillant
