I lost the key to one of my padlocks and am not sure how to open it again, it is not attatched to anything, the barrel is not like the one here: https://www.instructables.com/image/FKVBBL7FCEILY5J/Gently-slide-it-in.jpg

But is sort of a mix of that one and

How should I open it?

A gun.

Yeah, because a 14 year old is really going to illegally smuggle a gun into the UK. :stuck_out_tongue:

liquid Nitrogen!

But I dont know that much about lock picking, apart from the basic principles. I would go try and find a security forum. There are websites around devoted to the sole purpose of lock picking. Some of them are devious but there are a few that are there just for the fun of it. I cant find any user forums but here is the org that puts on tech events TOOL - Resources - About

Since the lock isn’t attached to anything cutting it open would be a waste of time…you can learn how to pick the lock or buy a new padlock. I would recommend the latter; if you don’t know how to pick locks you’ll spend more money on a beginner’s toolset than a new lock.

axes, crowbars. always works for me.

Level up your lockpicking skill.

with your teeth

Just get some goddamn boltcutters. Jeez.

Blow it up.

It’s not illegal to own a gun in the UK you know. :hmph:
Although I live in the mountains and you live in a more populated area, so you can’t really shoot at people on first sight; you’d be a serial killer!

Regarding opening the padlock, if it’s not attached to anything, why do you need to open it? Just recycle it and get a new padlock. Or level up your lockpicking skill with your teeth.

I Just want to see if I can open it.

Maybe you could just use the old screwdriver and bobby pin?

A titanium peg and a hammer. Bang the peg into the cylinder, then turn it and rip the inside of the lock out.

Of course, this might limit the future usefulness of the padlock somewhat :stuck_out_tongue:

UI think I’ll just leave it in vinegar for a few weeks and then return it :stuck_out_tongue:

EDIT: Return it to my freind who thought it would be funny to lock my bag shut with
