first one to go was the baby : he got hit by a car and survived but he got paralyzed so I took him to the vet to take him down.
a month later “now” his parents went missing for 10 days and I kept looking for them everyday, and I found them yesterday…or what’s left of them, and apparently they died by being run over by cars. entire family just…gone 
My condolences. I’m sorry to hear that. A family friend lost her cat a while back from disease. Thankfully our dog is still around.

Roadkill is totally avoidable but people just pretend not to see animals in the road and hit them anyway. You can’t trust other people to not kill your pets.

I hope they are in a better place. My cat lives outside since we moved to a house 3 years ago and the most dangerous thing around is other cats, sometimes they fight and it keeps me awake at night.

Actually it depends what part of the city you live in, if you live in some random city block there might be too much traffic for cats to survive safely, however I live in a suburban neighborhood where cars are rare and they are forced to drive slowly.
I live in a Town, but the main road is like 20meters away from my house and it’s damn busy one, and my cats used to slip through the window
Our cat used to live mostly outside during the day… some cats just need to get outside and locking them inside is simply cruel. If you live in a busy neighborhood, you get an ‘inside’ cat (the fat lazy hairy kind, mostly), and not one that climb trees to hunt birds, like the one we had…

cats do not NEED to go outside unless they’re allowed to by a stupid, stupid owner. my cat doesn’t need to go outside, he doesn’t WANT to go outside, he’s perfectly content inside.

You can’t keep cats inside all day for their entire lives. They have to go outside, usually just to roll around in the sun, have some fun, or take a dump.
My parents have had cats ever since I can remember, the cats spend most of their time outside and never has one been killed by a car accident. One of our cats is very old but hes still doing just fine probably because he spends most of his time outside (watching over our territory for intruder cats from the outside world :3)
It would be impossible for us to keep the cats inside, they will trash the whole house if they have to.
We also have cats from other people coming over sometimes, to eat food we put there or to play with our cats.
