List of Very cool and Helpful Opensource Freeware.

Here is a list of free opensource programs and freeware that can help in more ways than you can imagine.

Please feel free to add a list if you know of any good reliable programs that can help all of us.

Like photoshop and in some ways better with a GUI exactly like Photoshop now:
Gimp
https://www.gimp.org/

Like Adobe After-effects
Jashaka
https://jahshaka.org/

Like Maya and 3dMax:
Blender
https://www.blender.org/

A Video Transcoder (My opinion of the ultimate transcoder)
Media-Coder
https://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/

Like Microsoft Office but just as good and pretty much visually the same:
https://www.openoffice.org/

Copy Youtube videos for free in HD 1080p:
https://www.youtubedownloaderhd.com/

Registry fixer for free no adware or viruses:
https://www.ccleaner.com/

Videoplayer everyone loves:
VLC
https://www.videolan.org/vlc/
Media Player Classic
https://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/

Media Player Classic is the ultimate media player. With the right set of codecs you can play anything on it with tons of control

CCleaner is freeware, not FOSS. :meh:

Ok I fixed it on my first post.

You can also post freeware and open source software on this. The objective is to have a very nice list of programs available to all community members by direct link on this forum.

Better.

Firefox - mozilla.org. firefox.com redirects to the homepage
Inkscape - inkscape.org
Not really a program, but the Qt toolkit - qt.nokia.com
All of my other stuff has either been listed or is linux-only

There’s a ton of other non OS freeware that I could list, but I think listing steam, etc isn’t really what you had in mind…

Audacity (audio recorder, with a set of effects and shit): audacity.sourceforge.net
Exact Audio Copy (audio cd ripper; can also burn, and has some other functions): exactaudiocopy.de
CDBurnerXP (cd burner, just as good as, if not better than, Nero): cdburnerxp.se
MP3Tag (edit metadata audio files): mp3tag.de

Video Download Helper firefox addon

It handles a lot more than just youtube videos. It can’t do everything, but it can do pretty damn close.

Yeah, forgot audacity.

Thanks for unleashing me.

Ubuntu Linux
Fedora Linux
Mandriva Linux
Debian Linux
Linux Mint
OpenSuSE Linux
Gentoo Linux

Well, that was fun!

7-Zip - Allows you to extract files from zip, rar, and other files like them.
https://www.7-zip.org/

AbiWord - A Word like program.
https://www.abisource.com/

Handbrake - In cooperation with DVD43 can rip DVDs as well as convert between MP4, AVI, and OGG.
https://handbrake.fr/
https://www.dvd43.com/

I use Songbird for my music playing needs.
A lot of downloadable features and skins that make it useful AND pretty

Oh yes, music.
foobar2000: foobar2000.org

It’s flexible, customizable, has loads of addons, and has a very low memory usage.

Jashaka is just horrid. Who ever compiled the installer sent quite a few .dll files to the wrong location. Not to mention I dug through all the folders and still can’t find one of the .dll files.

Winamp is superior.

Also, pidgin instant messenger and SUPER video encoder.

Paint.net it’s simple photo shop program.

Has good support and many addons to advance it’s capabilities.

It’s name is also it’s website.

P.s. Don’t believe it’s open source, but it is 100% free.

Not open source, but freeware none the less.

Chromium - aka google chrome
Thunderbird

It is not.

+1 Foobar2k is the best audio playback utility i have ever come across. There is so much you can do with it if you just explore for a few hours.

Ok whatever, moving on.

Orbit downloader.

Never need to use another download manager/accelerator or youtube downloader, ever again.

Every site, every format, every file, if it’s playing, you can download it.

Advanced SystemCare and IO Security 360 are pretty cool. https://www.iobit.com

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
