Liquid Cooling Question

Can someone recommend a good liquid cooling system? My desktop has waaaayyyyy to many fans in it and its still too hot. I heard that liquid cooling is way better than fans, so I figure I will give it a shot. Problem is, every single one that I’ve seen claims that its the best one out there, but the consumer reviews all say that they suck. Help me please. Oh, and price isn’t an issue, I just want something that’s going to work.

Fans will be able to cool your computer properly if you have good heatsinks and thermal compound. Unless you’re overclocking to the extreme or if you have crazy setups like quad-SLI there’s not really a need for any better cooling… You must be doing something wrong, what temperatures are you worried about exactly?

Money is no object you say?
SUBMERGE IT!!!

Those would only be cool if you could put fish in them. :frowning:

As said above you most likely do not need liquid cooling in your rig. What sort of temps are you seeing?

CPU should be around 30/40c idle and max out between 60/70c when at full load.
GPU’s range from 30 to 50c idle and can go up as high as 90c and still be ok.

Ding!
Yeah, I know you probably meant real fish… but at least you wouldn’t have to worry about these ones getting sucked into the pumps, cooler lines or fans as long as they were properly tethered.

Oil cooling is the worst idea ever, only a few people have it to prove that it’s possible but using it as an actual cooling solution is bad.

Why is it bad? lol - I’m digging the temps with the radiator on their v2. Going to try it on my old computer once the new one comes in.

These are the exact readings from Speed Fan.

GPU: 50C
System 37C
CPU:54C
AUX:94C
Core 0:45C
core 1:41C
Core 2: 39C
Core 3: 39C

These temperatures were taken when I restarted my computer from its latest crash. I had let it cool down for a few hours before I restarted it. I will post the temperatures again after I play Fallout 3 for a while so you can see the temperatures from when its been running for a while. I haven’t done any overclocking, mainly because I don’t know how. Also, these are the specs for my computer

Asus CG5270
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q8300 @ 2.50GHz 2.50 GHZ
6 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GT 220
750 GB Hard Drive
DVD Drive (idk what kind)

what is “AUX”?

Are you using stock cpu cooling?

Auxiliary

:expressionless: thx cpt. obvious… I meant where does this sensor measure the temperature

To the above questions: Yes, I am using stock cooling, plus 2 case fans that I installed because for some reason my computer didn’t come with any. I have no idea what the auxiliary readings are coming from.

After playing fallout 3 for a while:

GPU: 92C
System: 50C
CPU: 75C
AUX: 100C (Yikes)
And all cores are running at 60C

In the words of the Portal turrets, “Hello? Is anyone there?”

get a Laing waterpump

Don’t worry about the AUX, it’s not an actual temperature measurement.

And why is oil cooling bad? Think hard and you’ll find out a few reasons…

Wouldn’t it make it really hard to upgrade or repair?

And it permanently coats your parts in oil. It also makes it extremely difficult to move, and you’re fucked if it tips over. And finally I bet it puts some strain on any fans you have running.

Okay, so does anyone else have any suggestions for me?
