Hey guys, I was thinking about one of the L4D games. In your opinion, which one is better?
The second one. Which will fairly soon contain pretty much all the content from the first one anyway.
The only reason anyone would want to get the first one over the sequel is if you particularly dislike the various minor differences between the two such as slightly different weapons (and no melee weapons in the first one), some different common infected models/appearances, not being able to see your legs in the second one etc.
L4D2. No reason to buy L4D1. L4D2 had better graphics, more weapons, two sets of characters (L4D1’s and 2’s), more special zombies and way more custom campaigns. Unfortunately, the the L4D2 campaigns don’t even come close to the first’s, but all of L4D1’s maps have already been ported to L4D2.
Yep, L4D2 is better in almost every way. I’ve rarely played the first one since the second one came out.

Left 4 dead 1 DID have better common infected models though. Sometimes I wonder if New orleans was hosting the special olympics during the breakout.
Either that, or they have all been 100% interbreeding since 200 years ago.
One other reason for getting L4D2 that hasn’t really been mentioned is online multiplayer; L4D1’s online community is anything but growing, but L4D2’s is quite active. Single player gets boring pretty fast.

There is literally 0 reasons to think so.
I prefer Left 4 Dead. I think it’s because I like everything in Left 4 Dead- the weapons and campaigns and stuff, whereas in Left 4 Dead 2, sure there’s more weapons but a lot of them are practically the same, the only campaign I really like is Dark Carnival and I think melee weapons make hordes to easy to fight. I have both and Left 4 Dead 2 is OK, I just prefer the first.
I too like l4d1 more than l4d2, mainly its the characters and I really liked the “see your’e legs bit” not sure why. But l4d2 is still the better buy, more stuff to do, all campaigns from l4d1 and more weapons, even if i didn’t find the extra weapons made the game any better.

The weapons are more realistic in L4D, they’re more balanced. There’s an actual sense of progression with the weapons, as well where when you start off with a shitty Tier 1 weapon, you can actually get a better weapon. Plus the new infected feel pretty shitty imo. The graphics look really cartooney in L4D2, though I do like the gore. I like the L4D characters more, the atmosphere is MUCH better done in L4D.
I actually do quite like L4D2, but I just much prefer the first one. It just feels much better made to me.
The L4D characters are a lot better than L4D2, although I am partial to Nick and Coach, and generally the atmosphere was better in L4D (the carnival and swamp levels are notable exceptions IMO).
I agree with all of this. But you can get everything in L4D2.
I have to agree with the majority. L4D2 is the better game. I think this is mainly due to the weapons.
Problem is for the most part L4D2 will soon be both L4D2 and 1. The only thing I liked better about L4D 1 was the characters and mood and stuff, I found the gameplay of 2 to be better. L4D is like the B movie that takes itself seriously. L4D2 is like a B movie that knows its a B movie and just doesn’t give a shit.
