PIXAR has a lot of set creative procedures and predefined steps that they go through, so it’s hardly surprising.
they wrote the fucking formula, of course it’s formulaic.
well ya.
in other film news Roger Ebert died
:T
Completely out of nowhere for me. I didn’t keep up on his health but I didn’t realize he had any chance of dying. I think I heard something awhile ago about him losing his voice somehow but yeah, didn’t expect that at all.
saw Moonrise Kingdom was one ofthe best films ive seen in literally years wes anderson is a genius.
Red, The Hobbit, and Inglorious Basterds. All of them were very good, fun movies. I was a little tired before I started The Hobbit, which was a mistake, but I enjoyed the parts that I saw when I wasn’t dozing off for a few moments here and there.
I’ve never understood how people can fall asleep during a movie.
When siting on the couch half asleep to begin with? It’s not that difficult to doze off for a few. When I watch a movie from bed? It’s easy as hell to drift off for an hour or so.
Saw Jurassic Park in IMAX 3D yesterday. The 3D, while not bad, doesn’t really add much to the experience IMO. But the IMAX is just…man it’s amazing for that movie. It felt so good to watch an old favorite on a huge screen with such powerful sound. I actually picked up on a lot of lines I never even heard before thanks to this viewing. It was almost like seeing the movie for the first time.
Saw Evil Dead today with a couple of friends. I thought it was pretty damn good, and they actually had parts where they hid the sound from the original scenes in the background, at which I got giddy like a schoolgirl when I heard those.
And also - DAT AFTER-CREDITS ENDING
That ending was one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen.
Oblivion.
I started hitting myself in the face about 3/4 of the way through because I had reached a level of frustration previously unknown to me.
Worst film I’ve seen this year.
Charade. Fun thriller from 1963 where everyone could be the villain. It is very enjoyable if you like older movies.
I’ve only seen the first one, but Saw 1 was a brilliant film.
Aw man don’t say that I was looking forward to that movie
An actual eldie scrolls movie done 1999-era History Channel style about everything up to the end of the oblivion crisis would be tight
I played Deep Impact in the background for a while because someone put it on our Netflix queue.
I shut it off halfway in, because good god that was terrible. It had no dramatic tension at all and their plans made no sense whatsoever.
Why did they leave without even confirming that the comet had been diverted when they had a nuclear propulsion drive big enough to blow it up?
Why did they activate the bombs while they were still close enough to get hit?
Why was it necessary to drill bombs into the comet when the plan was just to deflect it?
Why did they need to go out on foot to deploy the drillbombs?
Why is this the same plot as Armaggedon?
Why the hell is Morgan Freeman named Beck?
Saw Olympus Has Fallen
Good for an action movie, but over analyzing how things play out can ruin it for you.
I saw Expendables 2 last night and it was pretty cool, but only for the sake of being cool. Sure, it was substantiality’s worst nightmare but it had funny bits and the sound design was good. Unfortunately though, the sound in fights is agonisingly over-compressed and the audio quality plummeted once or twice, but it was interesting how in the first few gunfights the gunfire made everything quiet for a few seconds.
