Empire Of The Wolves. I didn’t know what to make of it at first, but it’s an absolutely great movie.
Mannen på Taket. Classic Swedish movie, generally praised by critics as one of our best.
I thought it was okay, I probably would have enjoyed it more if the sound on my TV wasn’t so bad that I could barely make out the plot details.
The Dark Knight Rises. I liked it even less than I did the first time I watched it. I don’t dislike it, and I don’t regret buying the DVD, but I won’t be praising it like I did The Dark Knight, and I won’t be watching it as many times either.
DKR might literally be the worst film I’ve ever had the misfortune of seeing.
^has not seen Garfield
^ Or Stealing Harvard.
^ or The Ringer
I finally watched ASM with a couple of friends and I was pretty disappointed. The movie felt extremely rushed and it was clearly missing a lot, there was little to no character development and motivation for some of the characters, and aside from a couple of quips Garfield’s dialogue as spider-man felt pretty forced, among other things.
Koyaanisqatsi…
Also check out the soundtrack by Philip Glass…
Good stuff…
^ is it? I only knew it was where they took inspiration for the first GTA IV trailer (this), but never heard of anyone who actually watched it…
The Hobbit, HFR 3d.
…
Holy
fucking
shit
I saw the fucking future that day. It was 48 frames per second.
Haven’t critics been complaining about the 48 FPS?
If he enjoys it, who gives a shit what the critics say?
I’m just wondering; if it’s so awesome, which I expect it to be, why are there professional critics complaining that it makes the movie lose its ‘cinematic’ feel? Are they just a bunch of pretentious upper-class twits?
Because “cinematic” = what they/we are used to since the invention of cinema. It is the only metre of paragon they have, so of course everything that is different would not be “cinematic”. Because it’s different.
I saw it too, HFR 3D IMAX, and the 48 fps was… weird… in a pleaseant way…
Because it’s different and they do their jobs by comparing tangents to constants.
I shot a movie in 60fps very intentionally because it works better with a dynamic, hand-held camera. Low framerates and shakycam sacrifice much in the way of “readability” with regards to the goings-on onscreen.
tempted to do all my college work in 48+fps now
