The Worlds End
Pretty funny, though the ending was a bit… Lacking? It didn’t seem complete.

What’s sad is that so many people think a movie has to be dark, depressing, and generally horrible before it can be serious and engaging.
Pompeii. It was decent, but save yourself the money. It can wait to be a rental.
Not movie-related, but I’ve been rewatching Louie from the start. Best tv comedy ever.
Star Trek: Nemesis.
I was not expecting Janeway to be in this movie.
Star Trek 4 is the only good one
Yep. Star Trek 4 is best no matter you saying.
I’m just going to stare at you two weirdos for being wrong.
Well, double dumbass on you.
Star Trek IV is totally the best, TGP.
I watched Star Trek: Into Darkness. Honestly, this movie felt really mediocre. What struck me the most is that it has a ridiculous hardon for killing redshirts; at times the entire plot felt like an excuse to kill off dozens of unnamed crew members in increasingly ridiculous fashion.
I have a weird feeling about Into Darkness. I don’t know what it is, honestly, but something about it just doesn’t feel right, like it’s too long or too short or not structured properly. I enjoyed the acting and chemistry between the characters, but not much else about it.
I wish they’d get away from the action theme in these new Star Trek movies. I don’t believe that Star Trek should be action-adventure. It should be sci-fi dramedy and speculative futurism. If I want sci-fi action, I’ll watch Star Wars or something similar.
Let’s return to the tried and true formula for Star Trek: exploring space and “strange new worlds, seek out new life and new civilizations and boldly go where no one has gone before”.
I’m going with poorly structured. It’s missing some transitions in logic and emotions. It rushes to its destinations and themes without pause to consider if it should be going there just now.
I agree, and hopefully so does the new director (I forget who they just hired for that).
finally watched Audition and I’ve got to say after being disappointed by Ringu and Ju-on (still haven’t gotten around to their american remakes) I’m glad Audition was great. Asian horror films definitely do build-up better than american ones.
I agree with what TGP said; it doesn’t seem to have a particularly good narrative structure, and it lacked a definite climax. It kinda felt like a bunch of action scenes strung together with ST continuity references.
I agree. Speaking of that, I know RLM is kinda over-referenced in regards to this stuff, but I really like what he said about Star Trek (2009) - it was everything we did not get in the Star Wars prequels. While Into Darkness was…not as great as the first one, I am cautiously optimistic about what J.J. Abrams will do with the Star Wars franchise.
Maybe that’s it. It’s sort of like you have no idea where it’s going to go, and it kinda feels like it doesn’t spend enough time anywhere. It takes the characters to Kronos, sets up an encounter with the Klingons, and then rushes away, never dealing with any consequences of what happened there. Like it was meant to be important but then was just incidental. I dunno.
K-PAX
I really enjoyed it.
Into Darkness is an exceptionally well put together clusterfuck.
The Act of Killing - watch this documentary someone its fuckign terrifying
OOh, I’ve been meaning to actually.
watched Pacific Rim again. Like it even more now.
