James Cameron's AVATAR

I just copy and pasted this. Looks cool althought.

Didn’t see any thread about this ground breaking film from the creator of Aliens, Terminator & Titanic. Anyway “public” showing in Amsterdam showed 15 min of footage here are some comments;

So fucking pumped for this movie. It’s going to be amazing!

Dumb question, this isn’t related to that anime Avatar, with that bald kid who rides clouds?

Saw the trailer at Transformers.

I’m afraid it is, fridge. Although I didn’t know he rode clouds. I just knew that it was a bald kid and he was on nickelodeon or something here in the states. As such, I have to conclusively say that I will not be watching this movie (unless it turns out to be very badass and several [COLOR=‘DarkRed’]straight men tell me that it is badass).

I thought you were talking about a specific users avatar, and you were going to complain about it or something.

Its nice to see the big guy make a movie. After T2 and Titantic he shorta stopped directing awesome epic movies.

that mech-thing looks suspiciously like

No, it’s not.

Yeah, I was about to say how can you make a movie based off this:

Article will explain it all.

You guys are thinking of the cartoon Avatar: The Last Airbender. Given that this is a film featuring space marines and genetic engineering, it is safe to say that it is not based on that cartoon, which has a magical fantasy setting.

That link Luminescence posted mentions that M. Night Shyamalan is supposed to be working on a live-action version of the Avatar: The Last Airbender, but there’s disagreement over who owns the rights to the Avatar name. It’ll be somewhat absurd if a movie based on a cartoon called Avatar has to be called something else cause James Cameron got in there first with an unrelated movie.

Giant blue aliens remind me of

I hope they can avoid the uncanny valley with this, but I have my doubts.

The last airbender… I saw the trailer for it in the theaters when we went to see transformers. My son and I were amazed and excited.

Then we pulled up the cast list yesterday and I gotta say this, (please forgive me)

WHAT THE HELL IS AN ASIAN BASED CARTOON DOING BY CASTING AN ALMOST ALL “NOT ASIAN” CAST?

:s mackshead:

To avoid confusion, CatzEyes means THIS Avatar movie, which is based off of the anime:

I’m (unfortunately) seeing Transformers 2 tonight with some (possibly autistic) friends of mine who want to see it (again, they may be autistic), so I’ll hold my judgment until I see the trailers for both films.

There was a Penny Arcade comic about that the other day that I was going to link to, but it appears they took it down…

Epic fail.

The Last Airbender trailer was interesting, but I’m no big fan of M. Night and I’ve no familiarity with Avatar: The Last Airbender as source material.

Avatar the sci-fi film by James Cameron though, is something I’m hugely excited for.

Ok, I found the comic. Not taken down, just hiding from me…

to me that “mech” looks like an A.P.U with a more comfortable cockpit…

Wow, I didn’t know they the Penny Arcade guys like watching Nikelodeon.
lol

How is it that Ctrl-Alt-Delete gets an animated series on XBL, but not Penny Arcade? Not that Ctrl-Alt-Delete is bad, but…

Nikelodeon was the shit back in the day.
