There are two problems with this thread:
-
The article in the OP is from the Daily Mail and should therefore be immediately discounted as mouth-foaming sensationalism, with no further comment necessary (see also the Daily Mail Headline Generator)
-
The word ‘psychopath’ is a widely misunderstood and misused term. The Daily Mail is using it to mean “psychotic maniac”. In actual fact, a psychopath is much more subtle and, chillingly, much more common than that. See here for a good explanation of what a psychopath really is, and how you, in all likelihood, know several psychopaths: https://www.damninteresting.com/the-unburdened-mind
If anything, a psychopath is more likely to have a Facebook account, since it lends itself well to the kind of ego-stroking and mindgames that psychopaths are fond of. I can think of at least one person who I am sure is a psychopath (I would be willing to lay money down on this) and he is a very prolific Facebook user; in actual fact, his behaviour on Facebook is one of the signals of his being a psychopath.
tl;dr version: The Daily Mail is shite and should be ignored, and ‘psychopath’ is a commonly-misunderstood term and the article above is well worth reading.
