iPad

before bill gates open letter, programmers and geeks a like used to pass around and copy each others software (Selling a “license” to a goverment only really meant that the goverment would use your software), and no one really cared if you shared there software, even the creator of apple shared his and bill gates software. then bill gates had a spasm over it, demanding that they stop doing it and they pay him, everyone laughed at first but then came windows, like the empire, and all hope was lost… thankfully in the mid ninties during episode IV, a new hope, microsoft was took to court and they failed in their ambitions to completly own the computer industry and the internet

and based on windows dominace game devlopers dont really see money in adapting games for the mac, however recently (With the popularity of the Iphone) that has started to change

Sorry but, WUT?

Macs are sold with the same chipset, same processor, same graphics card and the same type of ram that I have(2gb dual channel 1066mhz), so the only way it would be any different from an authentic mac is if I didn’t have all the drivers, but I did, and it didn’t run 50 programs like you said, watching a movie in VLC, running firefox, wine(steam), pidgin and vnc, it wasn’t laggy but definitely slower than windows.

maybe some evidencewill change your mind

iMac
Average startup 28.7 sec.
Average shutdown 4.0 sec.

Gateway One
Average startup 1 min. 13 sec.
Average shutdown 44.3 sec.

And the gateway one is more expensive… a difference of 45 seconds for start up? Whats that telling you? The Mac even runs windows faster then a PC can

and this is two years old

Hate to mini-mod, but we already have a topic for this.

Edit: Oh, fuck it. Codgin, learn to read. Those times are based on their respective operating systems. It says on that very same page. “iMac: Software OSX Leopard” “Gateway One: Software Windows Vista”

Sersoft was talking about Mac OS running on a PC.

Yes, remember kids: if you want to run MacOS, it has to be on a computer which is not personal.
If you use MacOS, you’re supporting communism!

yes but he was using that as evidence that somehow makes a mac slower, when the evidence cleary dictates otherwise

anyway yes, theres another topic for this, back to the ipad!

Fuck all this Win vs Mac talk, back to the iPad.

Would rather get a Joo Joo or an ExoPC Slate

You call that credible? Not only the CPU speed was different, but the amount of ram was different and even the screen resolution was not the same. I bet the mac has a faster hard drive and a completely different chipset.

Gateway is not exactly a great PC manufacturer, remember, it’s the cheap version of Acer. My first PC ever was a gateway shaped like an imac and it was slower(and more expensive) than any other PC I’ve seen after.

And lastly, the startup and shutdown times are not of much interest to me anyway, I have a linux distro on an SD card that takes 1 second to load, it’s called expressgate and I can boot windows from it, can your mac do this? Also they were running the OS on default settings, when I use windows I’ve got a good half of the system services disabled because I don’t need them, my system starts up in about 10 seconds from the bios screen to the login menu.

And besides, you could probably find two identical PC’s with the same OS and different load times, every little detail changes the load time.

This is all bullshit.

All I’m waiting for right now is the seamless combination of OnLive and 4G on a device the size/layout of the OpenPandora. Imagine playing Crysis 2 Maxed out anywhere you want on this device…

Its possible. Its cheap. Its not the future.

But manufacturers are just too damn retarded to think like consumers and make it happen.

I can imagine the horrible ping you’ll have and the ugly mpeg quality.

…no.

No offense, but if you had done any research at all beforehand you would find that OnLive had been extensively tested and is now in a closed beta stage, and it is working wonderfully. A bunch of publishers are already signing up for it, including EA (Crysis Warhead is on it). It only requires a 5mbps connection for Wii-quality games (I assumed that meant 480p resolution), and 4g speeds are capable of MUCH more than that.

The makers of OnLive have found a great video compression method, and they virtually eliminated high ping. I don’t know the technical details but I know it works. And, um, what does MPEG have to do with it? :S

What is your title there?

lol I realize that.

And honestly, I think you’d rather have me as a headcrab with thought-out posts than an alien grunt with spam posts like “HAHAHAH TROLL” all over the place

And does low post count make me wrong?
Yes, I know you think it does. lrn2read invisible txt

-sigh- no I was implying that you worked at OnLive…

Ah.

I thought you were referring to my forum title. And no, I don’t work at onlive, considering I’m still in high school.

Sorry, I expected hostility for defending my views. :stuck_out_tongue:

No, I knew you didn’t work there considering you weren’t sure what they meant by “Wii quality;” I was being facetious.

Yes, I realize that troll post is troll post. lol

I fell into it :expressionless:

But seriously, could you imagine whipping out Black Mesa anywhere you want on a portable system?
That is, if its released before the end of the world.

Even I was wrong when I was a headcrab.

No offense, but lrn2read hidden text lol.

TBH I like headcrabs more than zombies. :jizz:

no offense, but do you really think that I could have quoted that post without noticing the blatently obvious /lolol/invisicolor;DO U C ME /

On Topic: Ipad lools like a money grab IMO

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
