I got black mesa to work no problem. Download and install steam, create steam account. Download source sdk, sdk 2006 and sdk 2007 (2006 isn’t needed but I downloaded it anyway).

Download archive, installer and md5. In my downloads folder on my PC I clicked on blackmesa-setup. Follow instruction and install black mesa. Before installing exit steam and then login once installed. Steam should update and then black mesa should be selectable and playable from steam.
