Infected Hard drive

Hi, just need a bit of advice, i have an old hard drive small about 230gb, it was infected with a few viruses last time i checked, but if i wish to safely install this, do i need to put it onto Slave setup, i will run my computer offline, will not access any files, format the hard drive and scan for viruses using my mcaffe (full version) (i can also enable a lockdown on it)

is that okay? thanx.

you don’t need mcaffee or anything as long as you format the HDD before letting windows access it. (format from linux or the windows 7 install DVD)
