What I’m saying is that atheism is as irrelevant as pizza-loving because, and I know that this is mind-blowing:

Why even mention atheism? It gets under my skin. It is assumed that anti-religious folks would either be male or female, too. Why not just say “extremist men and women”?
I guess I could say “extremist anti-religion religious or non-religious folks,” but somehow I doubt many of the people wanting to burn down temples pray to Yahweh.

And, yes, it’s important to me. It slimes atheists with the anti-religion brush. Atheism is simply a lack of belief in deities. It is not, nor is it ever, anti-religion. To assume that “extremist atheists” are “anti-religion” is to assume that “extremist pizza lovers” are “anti-Macintosh computers”.
It’s a complete and utter non-sequitur. And I’m tired of “extremist atheists” being defined as “anti-religion”.
This is my attempt at improving the world…trying to remove the stigma of being an atheist. And it doesn’t help matters when there are people that go “dur hurr athiest hate religion!”

I walk the line between agnosticism and outright atheism.
Yes, normal atheists don’t believe in God and go about their lives alongside religious folk. But EXTREMIST atheists don’t want religion to exist. Do you understand. Atheists are fine. EXTREMISTS are not.
It’s the same thing with religious folk. Normal religious people preach peace. Extremists blow shit up.
EDIT: If you don’t agree, that means you aren’t an extreme atheist. And most aren’t. Just like most religious people don’t kill for God or picket soldiers’ funerals.

I’m an agnostic atheist. Angosticism isn’t a point between atheism and theism.
Extremist atheists don’t want to eliminate churches because atheism is NOT ANTI-RELIGION. Extremist atheists would, if they exist at all, seek to keep religion from being imposed on them by force. “If you make me say ‘God Bless America’, I’ll kill you!” I guess that people like that exist…but since atheism is not anti-religion, you can’t say EXTREMIST atheism is “anti-religion”.
It’s my dying wish (I’m not dying yet) for people to understand this painfully simple fact.

Actually, many religions do promote hatred and intolerance. Take a gander at the Bible as a f’rinstance. It commands the followers of said books to not accept other people and not have peace with them.

Point is: Atheism does NOT convey a single anti-religious idea. Why, then, lay anti-religion at their feet?
For lack of Gods sake, extremist atheists treat atheism like a religion, feeling it necessary to spread it across the world. You’re acting like a Christian trying to deny extremist christians. Stop it.
How, exactly, does one “spread atheism”? Go door-to-door giving out blank pamphlets?
How about we just kill everyone. I’m sure that would make the world better.
By protesting religious holidays, not saying “God” in the pledge, etc.
Not to mention automatically calling religious people morons, wanting to abolish religion, thinking all religion does is cause wars, thinking atheism is the best way, etc.
