I'm getting HL1 on the Playstation 2

I haven’t used my old PS2 in ages, but I have to ask a couple of things - 1, If I get it on the 7th will I be able to complete it by the time Black Mesa is released, and 2 - What is the Nihilanth?

DO NOT FEED THE TROLL![/SIZE]

Wut? He seems to be asking honest questions.

  1. Most likely, it’s a semi-long game, but it doesn’t take more than a week or two to finish. (Considering you have a life.)

  2. The Nihilanth is giant. I’ll let you figure out the rest by playing the game… :stuck_out_tongue:

faint

He’s basically an obese WOW playin’ nerd that never had to use his legs so they fell of, and because of this he built a mechanical chair to make him feel like an evil genius:3

also all that reading gave him a massive brain somehow. I know it’s impossible to make your brain bigger by yourself but :meh:

Fookin’ PS2 version and it’s auto-aim.

I can almost guarantee you will complete it before Black Mesa is released if you play it in a reasonable time span.

I neat HL1 in about two days, and I was moving at the time.
The Nihilanth is the endboss

Nihilanth
I haven’t noticed before that Nihilanth is voiced by the same guy who voices Gman

Don’t forget, guys, that the PS2 version also has the expansion from Gearbox Software called Decay. You get to explore certain parts of Black Mesa that Gordon Freeman had no access to in the original Half-Life. There is also multiplayer in the PS2 version that is different than the Half-Life: Deathmatch that is on PC. Oh, and you can also unlock an alien mode cheat so that you can play as a Vortuigant in Half-Life PS2.

I’m rushing out to buy it as I type.

Oh, and, all those features are available on PC now, because of the HL  ecay mod.

I have hl1 for ps2, but I don’t have a PS2. Fortunately, my PS2 emulator works perfectly.

As long as you bought HL for PC first.

The great thing about this - My PS2 just broke down, so i’m getting it for PC.

My new question - HL or HL: S?
I’m leaning towards HL, but is HL: D mod on HL or HL: S?
… God, if you didn’t know what Half-life was that would sound like a load of crap o.o

If you have HL2 or any other source game, get HL1, as there are many good SP and MP mods out for it, and a few quality ones in development (Half-life: Static Friction looks really good, IMO)
If you don’t have a source game, then get HL:S so you can play Black Mesa, or HL1 and HL2.

I thought someone said HL: S doesn’t include the Source SDK, and therefore won’t enable you to play BM?

That is correct. That’s exactly what I was told.

If you go to advanced search on the Steam store, there’s a specific category for games that include the Source SDK, ie, games that allow Black Mesa to work. The results are these nine games:

Definitely get the non-source version. Waaaay more mods.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
