If you really wanna know who G-Man is...

First I was like whoa, then I was like lol, and then I was like wait what?
where did you hear this?

Dude, work on your MS Paint skills. D:

I never use it anyway.
I just thought I should make a point.

you guy are way off. It’s obviously Goofy Man

Gman’s not human. You know that, right?

Yet he looks like a human:retard:

Maybe the Combine does too. We haven’t seen them outside of their suits.

They are human. Just slightly modified.

I have.
Don’t remember where it was though…
They are really pale :fffuuu:

Nothing only sigh and facepalm on this thread.

Just listen to the old sound files of Nihilanth.

I’m sure that the Gman is there for the sake of mystery. He doesn’t really drive the plot or anything, especially not in HL1 and HL2. Maybe a bit more in the episodes. But I think Valve often goes like “Hmm… what should we do with the Gman now? Oh let’s make him say this and that, so we could link this story with that one!”. I don’t think the Gman had some specific role since the beginning, but Valve is rather making it up as they go, just like the rest of the story. I’m sure EP3 will bring some more interesting info about him, since EP3 is necessarily the last Half-Life release in a long time, and the Gman had an increasingly important presence.

In HL1, he just stared at you all along, and then had a closing speech which brought the game to an end in a nice and satisfactory way. In HL2 it’s the same thing, while in EP1 for the first time you see him opposing you as the Vortiguants pull you out of his control. In EP2 he expresses his frustration and reveals some more info, also, it’s the first time he talks to you mid-game. In EP3, I guess we’ll know more about what Eli and the Gman had in common, since Eli also knows him. I’m sure there will be some sort of closing event that will reveal something interesting, then raise a lot of suspense that may be used in HL3 one day.

I don’t know whether the Gman being Gordon’s father would be interesting in any way, but I think it wouldn’t make sense. He would not have wanted to kill you in HL1 (when you don’t go into his portal) and he would not act the way he does. I think his sole role is to be mysterious, and to keep us asking questions.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
