If you made Black Mesa

I wouldn’t have a problem with lens flare if you saw it while zoomed in with the crossbow. Actually, I’m in favor of that idea.

And the magnum.

But the thing doesn’t even have a scope so… eh

I’d make it as a prequal to the resonance cascade events, starting a week before and leading up to the point where Gordon gets on the train and starts the HL game.

The game would be filled with exciting adventures in which you have to travel to and from the vending machine delivering snacks to your fellow colleges.

Another part of the game would see Gordon staring at long mathmatical equations for hours on end. It would be a real scientist simulator.

Don’t even get me started on the ‘water cooler’ section of the game, it would be far too awesome to competantly describe.

It’s a shame BMS will never be as good as my idea.

Is there a game where that’s featured? 'Cause I don’t think I’ve ever seen that and it seems like a pretty important step towards realism.

Then again, I guess most games’ idea of realism is “LENS FLARE EVERYWHERE! AND BROWN!” so you wouldn’t really be able to tell the difference.

Make it an MMORPG = Black Mesa Online

Level up Scientist -> Security Guard Select new skill set: Pistol + 5

Gluon Gun pogo stick. That is all.

You, sir, are a genius.

If I was in charge of making Black Mesa, I would release it on time =p.

And what time would that be?

The human eye has a lens, man.

In fact, the human eye sees lens flare.

Not a lot of games have done LF very well though  Maybe Crysis 2, but that has anamorphic lens flare and is simulating the glare seen through a camera lens and not the human eye.

Except the human eye usually doesn’t try to focus on a light source so any lens flare that it sees wouldn’t really be noticed much consciously.

… Which means if that kind of flare is implemented in a game then it would look kind of unnatural, wouldn’t it?

doesnt he wear glasses

maybe he wore contacts that day…

WTF i dont know and anybody who is complaining about that stupid shit with the flare is wasting their time.

^ No one is complaining about anything, and for the record, this whole forum is a waste of time. So shove it up your fucking ass.

Just because you don’t notice it doesn’t mean it would break anything if it were there.

In fact, it may HELP. I mean people don’t immediately notice the scattering of light in human skin, but they do notice something strange about a bad skin shader that doesn’t take translucency into account. They may not know why, but they can see something wrong.

Lens flare is like motion blur. When you do it right, you don’t even know it’s there. Even after that it helps drive home that illusive reality.

I know when I walk around town, I have a heads up display complete with health percentage and such. When I get hurt, a little icon appears before my eyes saying what hurt me. Even if I have a major leg fracture from falling from a high height, I can still walk like normal and simply touching a first aid kit will instantly cure me.

hah!

All I have to do is not get hurt for a bit and I’ll instantly heal.

Hmm, okay, I guess that kind of flare would be quite cool in fact! It doesn’t seem distracting and it’s hard to notice, all you will really see is that the object is a light source. But of course not the typical, multi-lens telephoto flare you see in sports games.

If I made BMS it would be released already on Time by my first schedule. But then again you would have to make do with commadore64k graphics. :stuck_out_tongue:

I would make sure the cool-aid man mobile stayed in game. :stuck_out_tongue:
