If I upgrade my PC will it bottleneck?

I want to upgrade my video card, a Radeon HD 6870 to a 7970. I want to know if it will bottleneck my Phenom ii x4 955 3.4ghz processor, and if so should I upgrade my motherboard and CPU? I only have enough money to buy a new motherboard and processor, or just a new video card. So whichever improves game performance the most. Also my resolution is 1920x1080. OS Windows 7 64 bit.

yes it will, your current card is bottlenecked in some games with that

if you want sharper textures and better triple-screen performance, get the GPU

if you want future games to run smoother, upgrade your CPU and motherboard
